Alabama House Bill 2

Hayes said he and other officers worry about the likelihood of the short-barreled firearms coming into the hands of criminals and convicted felons.
And here is where Alabama's finest show off their keen intellect. Any normal shotgun can be easily converted into a SBS, so if a criminal wants a SBS all he needs to do is get a normal shotgun and saw off the barrel.

I'd like to have a SBS,I could have one but I don't feel like paying the tax stamp.

Oh,and this is a big OH,I don't want to commit crimes and I CERTAINLY don't want to kill a police officer.

Jeremy Hayes certainly as a Type A personality.

Some Law Enforcement Officers Understand

Not all law enforcement sips the Kool-aid Hayes is apparently drinking. As a Law Enforcement Officer, I think SBR's have many valuable properties - home defense being one of them, and I am writing letters in favor of the Bill. All this law will do is put these Federally legal fire arms in the hands of law abiding citizens and align Alabama Law with Federal Law and our Constitution. All this Bill will guarantee is the right of hard working law abiding Americans to lawfully defend themselves from crime effectively.

They had a picture of the one illegal SBS they had seized, and the current laws must have stopped that criminal from getting an SBS, not. What a joke. Only thing current laws do is make criminals out of legal federally registered owners of these weapons, because criminals could not own these weapons before the Alabama law that exists was created and they will not be able to own them after the law is revised with HB2. I am offended by Officer Hayes comments too. I would definitely vote for those representatives he disparaged. Whether some one sees value in owning such weapons is moot, second amendment protects owning firearms and all American's have the right to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. The representative mentioned in the article that was a state trooper voted yes to the
Bill, all in my opinion they are all patriots. If as Mr. Hayes state these weapons had no value then why are they more valuable monetarily and why do companies even bother to manufacture them?

They are the best for protecting life inside of residences period. Not only is Officer Hayes ignorant, but he is also tactically inept or intellectually dishonest. How embarrassing for him.

This is the stupidest cop in the country. The palo alto cop who wants to shoot gun owners thinks hayes is mentally defective. Did he REALLY lie to our faces and claim that cops don't use short barreled rifles? Is hayes a desk troll who has never seen swat weapons? Wow.

So, presently, what is the consensus of this getting passed in the Senate, and what kind of time frame are we looking at? I've got an AK pistol I built that is dying for a stock. And then I could buy a Draco to replace it on AK pistol duty.

All I can tell you is what has already been posted:
Hopefully, we can get this one on a Special Order calendar soon!

HB2 is one vote and one signature away from being law!
And the wheels of politics slowly chug on...

Yes, we are waiting for the Senate to take up this bill. Sen. Barron is the Rules Committee chairman and is essentially who we must get on-board in order to get this heard any time soon. I hear the gambling bill is on the schedule for Tues., so we may be too little too late...

Here's Lowell Barron's contact info:

Room 729-B
11 S. Union Street
Montgomery, AL 36130
(334) 242-7858

Let's give him a call today about it...

The gambling bill got delayed, so the Senate is working on non-controversial bills today on their special order calendars. Hopefully HB2 will make it on one!

Given the utterly one-sided vote in the house, I expect this one should be non-controversial!

Please give us updates as they come.

I was wondering if this would be one of the 'pet projects' (as Jabo Waggoner described them on the radio the other day) that would be addressed when the gambling nonsense was delayed.

Actually, I would advise you to call Sen. Barron - 334-242-7858. It is mainly up to him, as Chairman of the Rules Committee (that comes up with the Special Order Calendars) if this bill gets heard.

My source in Rep Greeson's office says HB2 should be before the full Senate this week.

Call or write your Senator's if you haven't already done so.
