Almost bought a CZ SP-01. Trigger changed my mind.

Yes. The trigger will be closer to a tuned 1911 than anything else. I have installed 3 CZ competition hammers in my personal guns, a CZ-75, CZ-40B, and a CZ-97B. The 75 and 97 are incredible, very light DA, and creep free 3.0-3.5# SA triggers.

The 40B has just the faintest hint of creep in SA, but has the slickest DA of all my semi-autos.

To prove how easy the trigger job is, I would be willing to do a video on the procedure, detailing disassembly, installation of the hammer and hammer springs, and reassembly. With just a very few cheap tools, it's easy. I could e-mail you the video, or post it on the THR as a link.

Interesting. I'm sure many people would be interested in a video like that. :)

If you want a better trigger out of the box, then get a SP01 Shadow rather than the regular SP01. The main difference is the Shadow has no Firing Pin Block. It makes a huge difference in the trigger feel and creep. I had Eric at the Custom Shop install the Competition Trigger and swap out the slide spring. 8 lbs for the DA and 3 lbs for the SA (but feels even lighter). Compared with a Sig 220 that I had Sig's Custom Shop do their Trigger Enhancement Package on, the CZ Shadow wins hands down. For the money you are talking about spending, you might want to get the CZ 75 Tactical Sport. It is already single action with a 2 lb trigger pull out of the box. Ivé tried the EMP...sweet gun, but the accuracy edge definitely goes to the CZ Shadow.

The real deal CZ-UB Shadow that you can get through the CZ Custom Shop is hands down one of the finest semi-auto handguns you can get. They come tuned from the factory and are set up really nice when it comes to trigger pull, both DA and SA, even Angus will tell you that.

I've "tuned" both CZ 75B SAs and SP-01s that I've left the firing pin block intact and functional. Sometimes they make a difference and sometimes you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference.
I own both the SP-01 and the Shadow. If you're not looking to spend that much money just go with the SP-01 and get a trigger job on it.
If the bug bites you later on you can always upgrade as you go along. If not then you're money ahead.

The DA trigger on my 75BD and my buddy's SP01 improved significantly with a snap cap and 1000 trigger pulls.

^^^ exactly.

the way the site is built is almost like those spam sites what just throw keywords everywhere and makes random paragraphs about them.

But look at the front end of the slide, it looks more like the EAA/single action CZ flat slide all the way out. Does CZ make a nickel/polycoat two tone?

It's a CZ. Look at the beavertail, triggerguard, sights, safety and hammer.

Yes, it's here:.....Ok, it's not listed on their site but I've seen them first hand. Satin nickel and polycoat or blued slide.
Maybe they quit importing them.

Well, I may have found an answer to my problem. I'll keep you all informed...

Okay, . . . looks like my problem is solved, with the help of a great THR member.

Getting a CZ SP-01 with a 15# spring, competition hammer, single action trigger, and Coco Bolo grips. :D I'm looking forward to trying this out as soon as it arives in my city. . . . . . . and parents (NICS) say it's okay for me to get it.

Very few guns feel as good, in the hand, as CZ products. I can't wait to get it. :)

your'e gonna effin' love it. :)

i only prefer the 16# mainspring becauase it's a harder hit, and lightening mainspring weight doesn't matter in SA only guns since you're not going to cock the hammer using the trigger, fwiw.

Yes, I am sure that I will have a great amount of fun shooting this gun. My only problem is that it may be SO much fun that I'll have to start reloading! hehehe

he was talking about that dumb "best 9mm" link

oh, and reloading brings out the best in an SP-01..... no recoil, and still meet uspsa minor power factor req's!

Thanx for the "dumb" remark, that's a significant improvement for me.:neener:

I agree, it was a rather lame sight.

Orion,

Burningsquirrels is right on the money about reloading. It's a whole nother' facet of the shooting sport. I have a "plinker" load for my SP that feels like shooting a .22 (SP is a recoil killer).
