Well, here it is, for what that's worth. An uncle unloaded it onto the teenaged me and being a dumb kid I immediately took it apart. It's a .32 short US Revolver and it's been in pieces for a good 50 years, and over those years several bits went for a walk. Here's a pic of what I started with recently, followed by the "finished" project.
and
(I jest, I don't think I'll improve the finish, it looks just fine for what it is.)
Fortunately (I mean really fortunately) Gunpartscorp had most of what I needed. There are two problems I need to ponder, though: One, the hand/pawl (the thing that engages the cylinder to turn it) is binding. As evident in the 'before' pic, both pawl and cylinder are original to the gun so it's not because replacement parts don't quite fit. It could be the pawl's spring (which is a replacement), but everything works freely with the cylinder removed. Second, the trigger needs encouragement to return to battery. The spring is OK; possibly I didn't fit its nose onto the trigger properly, although I don't see how I could have got the trigger guard screwed on if the return spring was misaligned. And anyway, once given a bit of a push it will snap forward.
BTW in my initial ignorance I did order a couple of wrong parts. If you have need of these for your project, PM me and pay it forward. I'm offering parts 33 & 34 for an Iver Johnson top break. (See the drawing.)
