I'm 31 and yes, do have some gray in my beard.

I'm tired of hearing the BS about LEOs that hate for you to have a CCW or any
firearm at all. It is a locational thing. Corruption is everywhere, small towns big
cities and all between. It is utter nutz to say that every LEO in a certain area
wants to step on our rights.

Example..... I hade a minor fendor bendor in a parking lot, the officer only asked
if I had my CCW on me (my person).... I said yes... his responce was ok... and
that was the end of it. He was yung but I have been stoped in the area for speeding
and treated with respect and even asked what I had on me and why. It was almost
like the 9mm vs 45 threads we have.

One LEO had a Glock... :barf: and we talked about why I had an HK
and he was more interested in which firearm would out preform the other
than me being a bad citizen.

Another liked my V16 while I was on my way home from from the range.....
The V16 was all I had due to range testing. My truck was one they were
loking for because an armed assault. I still had the band on my wrist... he
stated "May I search you truck"..... I said, "Well yah, but you may not like what
you find" I live for the 2A and was just at the range.

......His responce was "Is a 45 super like a 45 Roland"?

I like him. At least he is trying.

The majority of LEOs in my experience support the rigths of all to defend themselves with firearms. 2/3 or more in my experience support carrying concealed weapons. Mileage varies, and indeed it is largely dependent on location and the politics which goes along with it.

AND the attitude (or lack of a 'tude) that you display. Calm and polite begets calm and polite.

My Licensing Officer became a pretty good friend of mine. Sometimes I call him just for the heck of it. Good guy. He thought my right to the license was more important than the BS I was being given.

A lot of the folks I know from shooting are LE or ex. None of them are worried about licensees, because --- THEY GOT LICENSED. Point being, if you're in an area where a license is required, the license means you've had a federal background check, along with the other stuff you usually go through.

the fact that you even have a license puts you in a near-zero problem zone. Cops like that.

That's a hoot! My Licensing Officer was jealous. He was issued a Sig 229 in 9mm. Mine is a .40.

"Well, at least I have more bullets."

Hey. It's NY. He deserves a break. :D

The two times I've been pulled over carrying the LEO didn't so much as blink when I handed him the permit as a courtesy. One went so far as to say, "I don't need this" soon as he saw it.

One of our range officers was in the Highway Patrol. He says they never asked about the weapon if there was a permit. No one wanted to see anything in anyone's hand. The permit was good enough.

I once was in a car accident that required my brothers truck I was driving to be towed off. Politley asked the officer in charge if I could retreive my revolver from the truck to put in my buddies car who was driving me home from the accident scene. His response was "Guns don't make me nervous, I've got one to". I've met a lot more LEO's that I dislike then I like, but the ones I like I respect alot more than the average person.

All LEOs are gun grabbing thugs. And the 4 or 5 officers and reserve officers that work with me at our Gun shop are just plants to spy on us.

o_O

Ok sorry sarcasm isn't my thing. Every officer I personally know ranges from gun friendly to rabidly Pro Gun. They are a cross section of the population just like bankers, priests or anyone else. Most are good, some are bad. Like all of us they are flawed. It is what makes us human.

They've been pretty cool about my guns, too.

I don't trust them, though. They have powers that we do not. And they're not required to apologize when they screw up. ;)

At that point it was entered into the record that not only do you have a CCW but you are known to carry a gun. If you never get into trouble you are fine but if you have any runins like a divorce or something this record can be used in a court to show you carry a gun. What that means is up to the person that hears it.

I've been pulled over three times while carrying and all three times my CCW was not an issue. Even though not required in my state, every time I handed them my carry permit along with my license even though when they run your license here it automatically shows up that you have a carry permit. One LEO made a point of thanking me for letting him know I was carrying even though I was not required to.

I can't speak for everyone of course, but I have had nothing but positive experience with any LEO encounters I have had.

I'm not sure what that has to do with this thread. Are you insinuating that the officer is in the wrong for something divorce lawyers may or may not do years from now?

Let's be realistic here. The OPs incident happened in Texas.

Try the same story in Illinois, California, etc and see.

Law Enforcement has to be one of the toughest jobs on the planet.
You folks have my hignest regards. Thank you for protecting me and mine.

Big +1 on that. The other party was acting like a hopped up irate rabbit on
crack. The LEO had to get their information for me. The look on his face said
it all. I think he wanted to gag them at one point.

TexasRifleman, true but that goes with what I stated about:

It is a locational thing

Being a LEO does not make one a gun grabbing dog of the state. I think many
will still have the values they grew-up with, which can be broad stroked painted
per location (to an extent).
