I walk around and see calibers in numbers everywhere. Times, prices, damage in RPGs. Oh, look, cereal for $3.57. What time is it? 4:54 (That's one that I seem to notice on an almost daily basis). Et cetera.

It's ruining my life. :uhoh:

You are not alone, every time I see those numbers thats what I think of as well. Although i also see aircraft as well, 707, 737, 747.

I do the same thing, "Muahaha, 357 damage to Cowboy Pumpkin" >_>
"Wewt, 5:56PM."
*Writing down numbers*... "Heh...17.32...(.17 and .32)"

My Daughter was born at 3:57. No lie.

I told my wife it was an omen.

She told me, well I can't repeat it. Art's Grandmother woldn't approve of such language from a lady!

You are not alone.

I was going to start a thread like this but didn't want to let everyone in on how much of a dork I am.

About a month ago while driving with my family I saw two license plates in very quick succession. On one the numbers were 223 and on the other 308.

I started laughing out loud, which to the rest of my family was disturbing as they had not seen anything funny. So their thought process was probably something like "He's armed, he's driving and he's laughing at nothing. This can't be good."

I caused them similar concern a few months prior to that when I saw a metal barrel on the back of a truck with 6542A stenciled on it and I said "I raise".

They did not understand that either. But then they don't play lowball poker. :D

Used to be a gunshop in Portland, Oregon...

telephone number was 223-3030.

Now ain't that perishing appropriate?

I see calibers in various places. And I see CID specs for engines. F'rinstance, I used to catch a bus to go home at 4:27 (which in the early 60s was a monster Ford racing engine).

The world is full of coincidences.

Kinda brings a smile to my face everytime I not a number that is the same as some caliber designation too... Pavlovaian effect? ;)

She told me, well I can't repeat it. Art's Grandmother woldn't approve of such language from a lady!

Good thing "art's grandmother" isn't here.

Go on. :)

I thought it was just me. But it nice to know I'm not the only one who suffers from this.

Hello my name is junke and i am a numeracalibrivision...ist. you dont have to feel alone any more, you are among like kind. :p

not just numbers...

Last night I heard a radio ad for a Camry LE and wondered out loud when Toyota came out with a Law Enforcement product line. :D

I do as well, but do you associate letters as well? Where I work when a custom piece is being built they assign letters instead of numbers. So, when I see PPK, guess what comes to mind?

That's the same principle that goes into camoflage design. The human eye and brain visual cortex part search out familiar patterns and highlight them. Brains are so freaking cool, i love mine.

My brothers address used to be 444 Marlin Dr - easy to remember !!

It's not just calibers for me. I also see horsepower and torque numbers for my favorite cars. :D It used to be even worse. I would be talking to my buddy and maybe something came up about how much money something was and I would just say, "I wonder how many Z06's I could get for that much money..."

Years ago, when I worked in retail, I put the numbers 44 on my work uniform. Boss asked me what it was for and I told him 44 Magnum. He kinda gave me the :uhoh:

All the time. Engine displacements, rear gears, and pieces of phone numbers too.

I mainly just notice the more popular calibers. .270, .243, .455 webley, etc, go unnoticed. .577 gets noticed, but only because of the videos I'm sure most of us have seen. 50, 45, 40, 9, 10, 38 are too common, I see them everywhere so calibers dont really come to mind.

Just wait until you are driving down the road and starting going "17th St, full-size 9mm; 18th St, full-auto full-size 9mm; 19th St, compact 9mm; 20th St, full-size 10mm..." THEN you will have lost it. (Bonus points to anyone who can identify the series of guns I just used. It shouldn't be hard.)

G17, G18, G19, G20?

I always get the G29 and G20 mixed up. same for the 26 and 27...

They all look the same to me. They're ugly and have no soul :neener:
