Just began noticing in the last couple of weeks that there is tons of pistol ammo at the gunshops I frequent, and Wally world. Ive ben to three Wallyworlds in the last few days and theyt are all stocked up. Maybe things are turning around.

Theres a decent amount more than there has been at Walmarts around here, but its mostly because they started stocking different, more expensive ammo like RWS or the Federal 135gr .40 cal JHP's. Still no WWB in anything but .45winmag here.

I saw .380 auto last month at wally world, I have not seen it in over a year at this wally world. I do not check often so it was eaten up quick I bet. But this stuff is on the shelf sitting!

This mostly WWB. I forgot to mention there is also alot of .223s
.223 was always around here, cheap even. The problem with central Florida is there are very few places to even shoot a real center fire rifle outside of some limited hunting or an indoor (less than 50 yards) range. Guess that's what mostly kept the prices down and the availability up.

I brought home over 6000 rounds of different types from Knob Creek last week. There was plenty of ammo there and at decent prices.

My local gunshop has had cases of pistol ammo in stock for the last several months. 9mm 40 and 45 Blazer Brass as well as several others

All the area Walmarts, including those that haven't ordered ammo in a long time, are stocked with most pistol calibers. One notable exception is still .380. Everything else, including Federal, Remington, and WWB is readily available. Also they are no longer limiting per visit quantities.

I believe the panic has subsided somewhat, and the crappy economy not only has some folks not buying ammo, but turning loose of some that they hoarded.

There was a ton of ammo and components from private sellers floating around the last gunshow I hit.

Yep, ammo in all flavors is now in abundance at my local WM first time in a long while. Supply finally catching up with demand.

Our Prez or an administration official breathes one word about gun control, the supply vanishes overnight.

Surplus 5.56 soon?

I would think that within the next year we should see a lot more surplus ammo in 5.56. The Army and Marine Corps received over a million rounds of new ammunition for the SCAR and M4 last month. They are going to a heavier round due to the shorter barrel on the SCAR, yes it's shorter then the M4. It's modeled after Remington's Dangerous Game round but in 556.

The wally world near my gran mammy's place has oodles of 9mm. I'm going on Friday and buying 6 boxes :)

I can't wait for some of that XM-SOST from Federal/Lake City. :)

WWB 115gr came in last week at just under $28 smack per 100 rounds. Grabbed two boxes just in case! ;)

Get yourself down to Manatee....the 1,000 yard range there should do it for ya! ;)

Back on topic - yep, my barometer for this whole ammo drama has been the presence of 9mm WWB on Wally world shelves. For a long while round here in Tampa they were bare unless you dropped in very lucky - nowadays it is coming back with increasing regularity.

Walmart here is stocked with 9 and 40s at reasonable good prices. NO one seems to be buying them. The craze is over in my opinion unless the wingnuts keep pumping the scare tactics.

I have been noticing the price drop on all of it over the last few months.

Their are a ton of 1k round cases of 5.56 sitting on gunbroker in the low $300 range that no one is bidding on.

Yugo 7.62 x 39 still priced way up there at Samcoglobal while at Centerfiresystems is half the price.

No question that the ammo situation has improved during the past few weeks. I've been seeing a lot of 9mm, for example, show up -- and even two months ago, that wasn't the case. I've even seen some .25 and .32 on the shelves, along with .40 S&W and .45 ACP. Still, sadly, you don't see much .380 -- or not in my area, at least. That looks to be the last caliber invited to the table.

Ammo here in Raleigh is still hit or miss. 380 Auto? Forget it. 40S&W is surprisingly easy to find, though. Even ordering 380's online is quite difficult. I was able to find some from Cabelas in bulk, but that's about it. People are still snapping up those mouse guns for CCWs.

My friend is thinking of getting a Glock 22 after he found out .40 SW is so much available. He got so frustrated as he cant find .45 ACP at Walmart and Academy Sports. But once he was at the range, they were selling $ 27 a box. He had no choice but to get them at those high prices . I told him to buy .45 if he gets to see at low prices.

Lol depends on the caliber around here.

I can find all kinds of .40 S&W for me right now at some decent prices....

My GF just got a Bersa Thunder and we are having a really hard time finding good priced .380.

The only thing we've found locally is Blazer Brass ( only one place has it ) and while I had heard horror stories about the filth I was shocked when after just 100 rounds yesterday I went through more cloths and Hoppes #9 than I do in 3 cleanings of WWB in my glock.

Onloy a couple places have JHP and it's $45/50 rnds

I'm assuming the Blow Back is part of it too.

I checked my WM a week ago for .380 and they had none. I ordered some via the net. That was 6 months ago and I haven't gotten it yet. They keep sending letters stating the new date that it will be available.

The Winchester Supreme Elite, bonded ammo is not in stores but I did get some via the net. Everybody went gun and ammo crazy when...well you know why. Pro gun folks must be a minority. Join the NRA.
