July '13 Ammo Prices

Its crazy how this thing differs by region. We have oodles and oodles of .40s down here but no 9mm

Feel free to bring some of that 9mm up to Delaware, where we have .40 S&W coming out of every hole imaginable, but 9mm is seemingly as rare as a blue moon.

Not long ago the ammo counter dude at Dick's told me that he would have a strong stock of every caliber that they carry were it not for the same group of people showing up every morning and paying the jacked-up prices for any ammo that happens to come in.

Little bit of Winchester .308 this morning at Wally World so I grabbed it. Found some .223 from Cabelas last week for about .50 cents per round when shipping is factored in. Just replacing what I've shot.

The lines are thining out and ammo is begining to build at my local Academy. All the 223/556 you can want. I left this morning and the bulk Federal 1000 count boxes (4) were still on the shelf. It was priced @ $449.99. Only ammo I picked up was a box of Winchester 147 grain 9mm for $16.99. Too much but I thought I would give it a try in my X5

Wally World has had some rather expensive .9mm. 40, 38 spl, 45 acp, and common rifle calibers. I haven't seen any 22 rimfire in six or eight months. I would really like to get a box of 22 shorts. I have a Beretta Minx, and discovered I have no ammo for it.

Picked up a case of .223 Brown Bear 55gr HP's for $318 at the gun show over the weekend. BY FAR the cheapest ammo there. Also, I picked up 500rds of Golden Tiger 7.62x39 for $150. These prices are acceptable to me. I wouldn't pay anymore than that. I figured that I would pick them up while I have the money and the keep my supply stable.

Just keep looking at Wally World and local ads. I usually low-ball people with steep prices and sometimes they bite.

Just for the heck of it I went by the ammo section at my local Walmart. The shelves were bare except for some oddball rifle calibers and .410 shells. It was a wasteland.

Got two-100 round boxes of Federal Champion 9mm at WM today for about 21.37/box. Two weeks ago I was able to pick up 1,000 rounds of WWB .22lr from the same WM at about 4.5 cents/round. The "line" is usually 4 or 5 people, including myself.
