Ammo for AR15/M4?

Well that's an easy one....

If restricted to military,"ball", ammo(which thankfully we aren't ;)), you should use the longest bullet your rifle will stabilize in order to maximize wounding at distance, or the old tried and true M193 55 gr nato spec....Like BLACKHAWK 6 said, getting,"center-punched", by a center-fire rifle round really sux no matter the distance/caliber, but up close it sux THAT MUCH MORE. making bullet selection almost moot...

If you are not restricted to ,"ball", ammo, either jacketed hollow points, soft points, or balistic tips, being less dependent on velocity and barrel length, should perfom better than most FMJ at almost all distances except those 77gr FMJ being used. Have you seen the distance those long little suckers STILL RELIABLY FRAGMENT AT out of 10 1/2"-14 1/2" barrels?:uhoh: OH yeah:evil:!

FWIW, I am cheap, and have not been able to locate any WWB(the brand I know fragments outta my M4), so I have Wolf FMJ on hand for my plinking/social use with the M4 Rifle, and some quality American Eagle soft points for my PDW(personal defense weapon), a 10 1/2" AR-pistol.

Again, as BlackHawk 6 said being,"center-punched"(can you tell I like that phrase? ), under 100 yards by a center-fire rifle round is going to ruin your day, regardless of ammo selection. Ammo selection MIGHT only make a difference in how long of a bad day you have(read as: affect bleed out time) :neener: ....
