I usually hit the Wally world on Sparkman drive once a week and for months they have had all their ammo in the back because someone lost the display case keys. Well today I stopped in and they finally got the locks changed and had ammo on display. Jackpot! They had everything. Bonus was that nobody had changed any of the price tags in months, then they put all the ammo out. I bought 2 100 round boxes of WWB .380 that they had, and 2 boxes of Federal 550 round bulk packs. I did not need .44 mag or .357 mag, but they had plenty. So the manager sold it to me for the display prices, instead of the price they rang up as. I could have bought more, but I did not want to be an greedy. Still saved me about $17.

Funny thing is now that Wally has most ammo in stock at alot of stores the prices have went up so much i can find better deals elsewhere.
Dick's has CCI SV .22lr bricks for $25
Local gun store has CCI Blazer .22lr bricks for $16
And the rest i buy online as its harder to get mid range .22lr ammo from Aguila and Eley.

But i still get my targets and CLP at wally tho.

Wally world here lost the keys about a week ago, luckily they turned up later on. You would think that they would have more than 1 key to the cabinets! I usually buy a box or 2 every trip. gettin' stocked up while its still cheap and available.

Magichelmt...I'm amazed that they had the .380 ammo in that configuration. Most of the Wally Worlds I've visited hardly ever do. Mind if I ask what it cost with no mark-up?

i get all my ammo from walmart....fed 180gr fmj's $14.47, win pdx1 180gr $21.49 and its always in stock......thats why all i own is .40's
i also get .380 wwb bulk packs for my wifes p238 for $32.95

Picked up the last 250 UMC .45 for $84 at Walmart this afternoon. That was the same price as the last time I bought some there in Sept 2008.

Dick's is selling the same for $119 currently.

WWB 100 .380 FMJ flat point at WalMart for $36 recently, they had 3 or 4 boxes of it and a couple of Remington .380 for $18. Plenty of other calibers also incl. .22.

Cool...I pretty much quit looking for ammo at Wally World when it comes to .380
Seems it's just hard to catch it in stock. Maybe it'll start flowing a little...

I dont understand the point of the UMC and WWB boxes when the 50 round boxes are available- both the "value" packs work out to being more expensive per round than the regular federal red box (9mm). However, in .380 the WWB is a great deal.

Also, I have never seen PDX at wally world...only the WWB JHPs.

Local WM had Federal 50 9mm for $9.97, lots of various .22LR bulk packs, 100-rd WWB in all calibers, and that orange/black stripe Swiss stuff was about half price at $12.97 a box of 50. Nice to see ammo finally showing up.

I won't call the shortage over until they start having sales on ammo again, and primers are under $30 a thousand and no limits.

+1 Dasfriek....while ammo is back in stock at Wally world, the prices have been jacked up. Pre crisis, 100 9mm WWB was around 15-16 bucks. During the crisis, it rose to about 20, and now is running at 23. Better deals to be had elsewhere now....but glad to see it on the shelves at least.

The shortage is dying off, but still kicking. The last time I made the trip to Cabela's in Sidney, NE, I bought 1,000 large rifle primers for just over $20. That was only two or three years ago.

I went to Wally World yesterday for the first time in a while. I picked up 200 rounds of the Federal Champion .40 caliber I think it was 13.97 a box of 50. They had the Federal 9mm for 9.97 a box. I was shocked. This is the most ammo I have seen in stock there since Nov. of 2008.

The WW around here are pretty full. But I stocked up in bulk through my FFL guy at only 5% above dealer cost that I won't likely run out for a few years. The prices I bought at are only slightly better or worse than what Wally has now. It's weird just going to the closet and pulling out a box of .45 when I want to go shooting. It's been over six months since I bought any ammo that wasn't SD.

My local Walmarts always have ammo now. Especially 9mm and .40. I even saw 10 boxes of 50 rd WWB .380 the other day. Unfortunately .38 and .45 are still not quite as prevalent.

The WMs near me have been flush with most calibers of ammo for a while now. There's a fair amount of WM bashing on THR but I for one am grateful that they've endeavored to sell ammo at reasonable prices throughout this crazy period.

Only (minor) issue I have with them is there never seems to be an employee in the sporting goods dept. where the ammo case is. I always have to walk around the store till I find an employee who has the key or who can page someone who does.

Thank you, oh evil WalMart I am facing the bulk of the military match season at the local club ahead of me (season ends Oct). Finding Wally World White Box 100 .45 ACP on the shelf was a miracle, and I bought two boxes. I am looking at firing 420 to 480 rounds per season just for score. Due to the rush on ammo the local WalMart limits you to six boxes per visit, and I bought 12ga and .22 stinger that trip; when I went back, the .45ACP was all gone (usual so far this year). (Yes, I need to start handloading for military but chasing brass at the range is not always practical.)

on the great ammo rush This sort of thing happened in the Carter years: gun control types talking up bans or punitive taxes on ammo as a crime control measure, resulting in mass buying and hoarding. It actually began shortly after passage of the 68GCA when all ammo sales were restricted to FFL dealers and had to be entered in a logbook. Instead of stopping at a country store and picking up a box of fifty .22s on the way to the old family place on the mountain, I started buying bricks at the dealer's store, and the more the antis talked about restrictive measures, the larger my stockpile grew (my general rule became: keep a five years' supply, since you can't count on convenience buys).

I haven't seen any 100 rd. WWB .380 at the three Walmarts I frequent, and the 100 rd. WWB .45 does not last long. It's usually gone within two days. Everything else, especially 9mm. and .40, is in pretty good supply.

Around here 9mm disappears, along with .38 Spl, .357 Mag and .45 ACP, very quickly. Luckily, my H&K USP .40 S&W qualifies as modern military for the matches and WalMart .40S&W is usually on the shelves after everything else is sold.
