Ammo question for Vepr K in .223

Can the Vepr K in .223 caliber handle 5.56 Nato ammunition like the AR-15? I know that most rifles in .223, like the ruger mini-14, can't. But I remeber hearing somewhere that the Vepr could. I checked www.robar.com but couldn't find the answer in the faq section.

Thanks for the reply. Anyone else know for certain if 5.56 Nato ammo is ok to shoot in the Vepr k??? I'm curious because I was given some Winchester 55 grain Q3131 5.56 ammo recently from a friend to try. I just wanted to be sure it was ok to use.
