Good morning,

I was at a local garage sale and found an AMT 25/22 for what I thought was an extremely reasonable price. I knew AMT made semi-auto pistols but I never knew they made rifles.

It appeared to be a clone of the 10/22 but with a stainless steel receiver and trigger group. It has a black and stainless folding stock. Being a big fan of the 10/22, and because the price was so cheap, I took a stab at it. I figured worst case, I'd have a stainless 10/22 or could build a custom rifle with the components.

Does anyone have anything good/bad/ugly to say about these rifles? How is accuracy, function, reliability, durability? It seems to cycle by hand without an issue and I'm planning on shooting it this weekend.

I understand they are no longer made and that Ruger sued them for patent infringement but are these really worth some of the insane prices I've seen on some websites? Any idea what a REAL world value would be? I have no intention of selling, especially if she shoots better than my pair of 10/22s.

Thanks in advance for your knowledge and insight. I appreciate your time and cooperation.

There is a AMT rifle for sale at a local place around here for a very reasonable price. So I am just as curious as you are about it. I would think if they were close enough to a 10/22 for Ruger to sue AMT it must be almost a direct copy. Which for us would be a good thing. I will let the more informed answer your question, as I am also very curious myself.

I use to own one. Accuracy, function, reliability seemed as good as the 10/22.

AMT's have a reputation as not being durable.

Every one I've had experience with ended up with problems

Why buy a copy when you can buy the real thing from a company with a good reputation
