Years ago I bought one of these little beauties. It has Millet adjustable sights, target trigger, scope rail and wrap-around rubber grips. This was one of three. I took it to the range and shot it to make sure it worked (some didn't work, but if they didn't, they didn't right out of the box...if they did work, they worked right out of the box). AMT argued that Ruger's license had expired and Ruger disagreed, and won in court.

I'm glad Ruger won, because I always thought that AMT was trying to pull something shady, but I'm glad I got one of these pistols.

I just wonder if anyone else did? They were exceptional values, though at Ruger's expense, sadly. If I'd taken a stock Ruger and made all the upgrades, I pale to think what it would cost. Are these Clark triggers even still available?

If anyone else has one, I'd like to hear from you. And if anyone else has any experiences with these pistols, I'd like to hear. Finally, what are these pistols worth today in mint condition?

Yep. I've got one.

It had problems with trigger reset. Found some burrs on some of the internal parts that seemed to be rubbing. A little time with a stone, and then it ran OK.

I also have a blued Ruger Mark II, and it has never had any trouble...

Wow. That was quick.

What are your views about the gun overall compared to the Ruger? Do you find it as accurate? How do you like target triggers in general and the Clark trigger specifically? Would you put one in your Ruger?

If you had to give up one, which would it be?

Photos?

I have one. I think, in overall quality, it compares very favorably with my Rugers. It has betters sights and I like the Clark trigger much better than Ruger's trigger. I have Clark triggers on several of my Rugers (with more to install:)). Ruger magazines seem to preform superior to those by AMT in my guns. My particular gun is as accurate as my Rugers. I don't have any Rugers of comparable barrel length (10"), so it would be hard to give it up.

Nice photos. The barrel on that thing looks like it was made in two states! I think you need a flash suppressor and a silencer. Then, if you can get a good CCW holster for it, you can carry one for self defense. If you run out of ammo you can always club the bad guy to death!

Too bad Ruger doesn't offer the Clark trigger for some of their models.

Now that the AMT is reliable, I guess I'd prefer it to the Ruger.

If I had a stainless Ruger, it might be a harder choice.

I think they are about the same accuracy. Sights are adjustable on both, barrel length the same on both. I like the AMT trigger better, because of the adjustable overtravel.

That come with a front rest or rear counter balance from the factory?
That barrel is just gorgeous!
Altho ive never owned an AMT .45 backup i always wanted one even tho they usually have a bad rep. But that never bothers me for some reason.
