I'd like to start by saying that I apologize. Most likely a year or more ago I made a comment to another member; I said that if you couldn't make MOA on any rifle you had no business shooting. I've fired a lot of rifles in my short time on this earth and believed that to be shooter error. In short I was rude and DEAD WRONG. I'm man enough to admit when I'm in the wrong and that was one of those resurrgences of my youthful bluster; not to make an excuse of course. I hope that the member that I so rudely rebelled against remembers and accepts my most humble apologies.

Secondly, I'd like to reintroduce myself and hope for a friendly return. I recently have bought a Savage 110 (older model) with a walnut (or wood) stock, .30-06, used, and in AMAZING condition. I'm looking to get into reloading and wanting to shoot till my ears bleed and get some serious tack drivin' done. Amazingly the barrel on said rifle is already free-floated and shows signs of being bedded; unconfirmed due to my reluctance to take it apart as I haven't checked function, accuracy, etc. Overall looks to be a great buy. We'll see today!! :D

Thanks for listening to my diatribe, and again to all members and the member who I spoke so barbarically to, I'm truly sorry.

Semper Fidelis and God Bless,

Joel

At least you are the only person on this forum to say some thing dumb, and now that you have stopped, there will be no more dumb comments, thank you!

welcome back. don't sweat it. we're all a bunch of Savages here anyway. :)

That almost seems *vaguely* familiar. If I do recall I'm sure I just thought you were keyboard commando who had never actually "fired" a gun. I usually just chuckle at those comments and sit back to wait until the guy realizes short Mosins are a great deal. Or SKS's.

Anyway, welcome back. BTW, if you can't get MOA out of the Savage 110.....well, you can get loads of suggestions on how to fix it. ;) I 'think' those Savages tend to like the 168gr load, but may just be in .308.

We have all made mistakes and continue to make them. Mature people learn from their mistakes, admit to them, and move on. Welcome back.

if i got banned from every forum i said something dumb on id be banned from 5 (actual count) and 10 (hypothetical count)

welcome back i suppose. your welcome to disagree with anything said. just be civil, and polite about it, and back it up with fact or experience

The rifle fired wonderfully! 1" or less (possible .800-.900) at 100 yds. I'm so happy with it I could squeal unmanly and girlish, but I won't :D. The barrel's already floated (a big +) and I couldn't be happier. A bipod and a tactical scope and I'll be happier than a pig in mud with a hat on. Man does that '06 kick!

Thanks everyone for the encouragement and welcome. OOH RAH to you tiger rag.

Welcome back. Hope you have good luck with your Savage. I am new to handloading and started with.30-06. Now I load four calibers and am totally addicted.:D

Sounds good to me. The more I shoot, the more I realize - it IS the rifle, and not me. A lot goes into accuracy - the rifle, the ammo, the shooter, and the optics. If the shooter is constant, the other factors are to blame for dinner plate sized groups. Find a load that it likes, or sell the suckers. As Col. Cooper said, only accurate rifles are interesting.

Feday it doesn't hurt too bad to apologize does it? I had to do the same thing after i called another poster a "Loose Cannon". Oh well, you learn and move on. Thats one of the hazzards of drinking whiskey and posting on the internet.

I have a Savage 223 that came with the plastic stock and the Accu-trigger. I like the trigger and HATE that crappy stock. The gun will shoot under an inch with most of my loads and sometimes around 2" with cheap ammo like Wolf.

I couldn't stand the plastic stock and so i bought a wood laminate from Cablelas and a metal trigger guard from Savage. NOW its a nice looking, solid feeling gun. I haven't shot it yet with the new stock. I also have more in this gun than i will ever get out of it.

A friend had an older Savage like yours and took it to a GS to get the trigger worked on. It set in his shop for over a mounth and the GS never did the job. He brought it to me and i found the trigger to be easy to adjust for a much better feel and release. You have to readjust the safety if you adjust the trigger.
