An interesting Army Colt 1911...

I traded a Browning HP for this Colt for the frame. I had a Ciener .22 Conversion Unit I wanted mount on it. Well, the doggone thing shot so good as a .45, that I wound up with 2 shooters. Someone rebuilt this 1918 Colt with a Wilson SS barrel and fit it well, and it has been refinished it with a black baked finish. They also installed Millett sights.

I adjusted the trigger pull to a crisp 4.5#. I also replaced the grip safety with one from an M1911A1. It had a FLGR which I threw away and installed a conventional spring, guide and cap....

looks quite nice, but i dont dig the trigger....otherwise very classy looking and i bet it shoots like a dream

Great looking gun John. I always enjoy your posts on the "other" forum. There's just something special about shooting a gun that is 92 years old. I bought this 1918 1911 from a friend of mine who had it in his barn for the past 30 years. It has no collector value due to the sights, hammer, and grip replacements, and removal of the U.S. Property stamp but it shoots great....dead on at 15 yards with 230 gr. FMJ's. Of all my Colts, this one feels the best and is often carried just for that reason.
