Annoyed at people take pictures/videos of other people's shooting!

Plus at public ranges (especially the free for all National forest shooting area) you can get killed.

When I used to go to one north of Lancaster CA, I've been shot at once by a gangbanger with his shotgun as I was putting up my targets. Stupid punk was shooting at my targets too to top it off. After that I carried a rifle every time I went down range. Only once did I have to return fire and "remind" someone I was down range.

Another time I got into a Mexican standoff with a "Mexican" banger. His SKS versus my AK (with drum). Very very touchy situation. The alcohol reaking from his breath didn't help either.

I only go to private moderated ranges now. Haven't been out to a unmoderated range in almost a decade. Too many inconsiderate a-holes.

speaking of PETA, I once had a little run-in with two members. I had just left the range, and dropped the guns off at home, and gotten to the college campus. Walking upto one of the buildings, I was ambushed by these PETA people with their silly questions. Unfortunately, they noticed the sticker on my shirt from the shooting range and made a big deal about my owning guns and shooting. I was asked "What if we shot you for encouraging the death of poor, defenseless animals?" I responded "I'd shoot back, and wouldn't miss." I was almost escorted off the campus by security as these two idiots started screaming that I threatened I was going to kill them. Good thing I had a couple witnesses from class.

I've taken shots at the range, however, we asked the RO first, and our party included three people who were not US citizens, who came from countries that did not allow civilian possession of firearms, and it was going to be a big highlight of their trip to take photos of them shooting American guns in America when I suggested we all go shooting one afternoon. (Their eyes got all big, like, I had invited them to a donkey show or something else forbidden!) We carefully framed all photos so that nobody not in our group was in them and if someone had objected we would have stopped.

don't go to public ranges. the front porch is closer.

taking photos of people is rude, unless they are performers. some people don't know the difference. often see french tourists taking photos of chinese doing tai chi with scarves or swords in the square in front of where i live on luoyang. occasionally explain to them that this is excersise, not performance. frwnch seem to think the chinese are all there for their entertainment. disrespectful bastards.

I am not singling you out RR...your post was just the nearest to the bottom of the stack. Nothing personal is intended and I do not address you directly.

No offense taken. Even though I live in Maryland, I don't think we've had many of the problems others have spoken about. They can take pictures of me all day long and waste their time doing it. I'd love to think that a picture of my 5 yr old daughter shooting her pink and purple rifle could cause an aneurism in some antis brain. Of course a pink and purple rifle might cause an aneurism in a shooters brain as well....

LOL, my boy is apes about the color orange. You should see the looks we get when he brings out his 10/22. It has a candy orange laminate thumbhole stock, orange powder coated receiver and a Whistlepig barrel that starts orange and fades to gold. People either shake their heads at the gaudiness of it or ask where they could by one for themselves.

I do video/stills sometimes, but it's usually of myself or a buddy (more accurately, of the gun). When I do take pictures of other people...well, I haven't actually. I suppose I would ask first, but I don't really see why I would.

Many of the people here like to see pics taken at the range... there's huge threads devoted to pics of firearms, women with firearms, kids with firearms, et al. Heck, this site was started by a photographer! (and a good one, at that)

Generally, what can be seen from public view can be photographed without legal repercussions. Photographs taken in private places require consent.
(Source: http://www.rcfp.org/photoguide/ The photographer's guide to privacy) If you're shooting at a public range, you're fair game for photographers.

I know it's anoying to have some nut snapping photos, but if you're in a public location, then they are within their rights to do so. With all of the pro-freedom people around here, you'd think people would be quick to pick that up. After all, you don't want someone interfering with _your_ rights, do you?

Now, some idot comes along and puts their grubby paws on one of my firearms without asking permission? That's another matter entirely! Bare minimum he's getting 'verbally abused'.

Liberty is an inherently offensive lifestyle. Living in a free society guarantees that each one of us will see our most cherished principles and beliefs questioned and in some cases mocked. It's worth it.

I'd be perfectly within my rights to post a huge sign in my yard that said "All ni***** should go back to Africa." Id also be within my rights to greet complete strangers with "lick my *****." Just because something is within your rights doesn't mean you should do it. I would never suggest that people taking pictures in a public place be banned or arrested, but I would expect them to ask me before they take my picture. To me, it just seems polite to do so.

Paranoid

If you are out in public and someone snaps your photo I think you should just live with it. What is the worst that could happen?
