Annoying situation at Walmart

ID?????

Is it me or just a mercy issue with me? They take one look at me and that look of pity hits their face and they just fork over the ammo. I have never been "carded" in a Walmart for anything!

:D

one time wal mart asked me for my id when i was buying ammo and tried to tell me it was fake, the cashier had to get the manager.

Did he manage to get the ammo he was after despite his rant?

I've been ID'd when I buy ammo at Wal-Mart, not a big deal. It's not as if I have to wait through a NICS background check just to buy ammo.

Sounds to me dude was a bit on the unstable side.

I usually don't ID on ammo unless the person looks particularly young.

Camouflaged rednecks can look older than they actually are.

As for Alcohol, Walmart employees are not only required to ID any one appearing under 40, but we must also key in the birthday on the ID manually.

Hmmm, must be a local store policy because I have bought ammo from multiple Walmarts and I've never been asked for an ID.
:scrutiny:

I was ID'd at walmart one time when I was buying carb cleaner for my boat. I said I don't mind showing you, but can I ask why? She said kids are inhaling this stuff to get a buzz. I guess the days of sneaking in to you dads liquor cabinet are long gone.

I was asked for my ID to buy super glue. I don't mind showing my ID to buy certain things, but like another posted stated, I don't like waiting half an hour for someone to open the ammunition case.

It was even worse when they used to sell firearms. I bought the WalMart special Ruger one time and it took several people to decide who will call in the background check.

the issue isn't even a 2nd amendment one. A store is allowed to set pretty much whatever policies it desires regarding who it will sell an item to, and under what circumstances.

people do know that the constitution only applies to the government infringing or impeding our rights correct? Private companies can set any policy they want, we as consumers have the ability to shop elsewhere if we desire.

At our Wal-mart the register prompts the cashier to ask for proof of age when scanning handgun ammo or .22 ammo. The sale won't proceed until the cashier taps "OK," in effect swearing he or she checked. That happens for every box.

The gun guys there know me by sight, but I always just produce my ID anyway. That way they don't have to risk getting in trouble.

I suppose he's entitled to his rant until someone boots him out for disturbing the peace.
I have trouble understanding why, as an obvious 70 year old I must show ID to purchase something as innocuous as single beer. Seems to me there should be some common sense sprinkled in these laws.

In some states you have to have your ID on you when purchasing alcohol.

Same here!!!! Hate the game not the players. LOL

funny, I made a trip to Walmart once to buy ammo, and didn't get carded until I decided to buy a rated R movie on the way out the door. Apparently I look well over 21, but under 18.....

I was told by a Sporting Goods associate that cutting a replica of a Chevrolet key was Illegal. Against Federal Law. Didn't matter if It had a chip. Its Wal-Mart. When I was a young lad I was denied .22lr shells because the lady clerk said she didn't believe me when I told her they were for a rifle. Now hit the deck before Justin gets in here.

The ask ID of everybody in order to prevent a discrimination lawsuit. Let's face facts...there are some people out there that would be offending if they got carded and you didn't so they simply card everyone.

Honestly what do people expect? Walmart is the bottom of the retail barrel. They pay their employees the least amount they can. They squeeze ever penny out of every supplier and every distributor they use to the point of putting people out of business. They cut corners everywhere to bring you..... wait for it wait for it....

ALWAYS LOW PRICES ALWAYS so you SAVE MONEY LIVE BETTER

We all have choices. If you do not like the quality of service and products at Walmart shop somewhere else. I see this everyday. People shopping at Walmart is a compromise. You are trading just about everything positive about a shopping experience for low prices. You are a willing participant. If you hate Walmart so much then stop shopping there.

When I shop at Walmart I go in eyes wide open. I know what to expect... I am amazed people are shocked by the inconsistency and the level of poor service.
