Another 27-3 followed me home

Another S&W followed me home.

I made my weekly lunch time pawn shop rounds and there it was... Fresh in the display today.

S&W 27-3 6 inch barrel, no box or papers/tools. It was incredibly clean and looked like it has hardly been fired. I resisted the temptation all afternoon, but on the way home I decided I'd just go look again. Well we all know how that goes. Money traded hands and the 4473 filled out and home it came.

I gave it a cursory cleaning and took it out today to run some ammo through it. I put 100 rounds down range and I have to say I'm very pleased with the new gun.

I have one on layaway, an 8 3/8 nickel. Doesn't have the correct grips, but has some comfortable Hogue rubber ones.

They're plenty of fun with Mag loads @ 100 yards too. I don't have the 27 but do have a 4" 28 HP.

always did love the look and feel of an N-frame. my first was a 28-2. love at first sight.

That's a nice looking 6" 4D5 and it certainly shoots well.

kenhwind, I'm sure you well like the 8.375 barrel. I just picked up my second 27, a nickle 8.375 that was mag-n-ported. The porting sure does cut the barrel movement down.

Don't you just hate when that happens; all these stray guns following you home! I used to have that same problem when I was a kid, only all I ever found were stray kittens! Looks like you've got a real fine shooting S&W there; enjoy your latest "adoption" and thanks for sharing.

I wouldn't turn my nose up at a Model 28, I had one in 4 inch, but traded it for a M29 6 in, to go with my 25-2 and 25-5.
Unfortunately I don't have them any more either.

Yep, they are great shooters. I have a 27 and a 28. I shot the 28 today. I like the 140 Gr loads.
