Wow, thats great glocker82, I'm glad to see you can copy and paste from the same FAQ that everyone else has read. If I ever shoot or abuse mine enough to break any of the parts that differ, I'll make sure to let you know.
Until then, I'm going to enjoy shooting my gun that is built exactly the way I want it, and spending the money I saved on ammo for some BA/UU/R.
I apologize to everyone else on the intarwebs, I didn't build my gun to suit what you think is necessary based on the "gun board orthodoxy" [see signature]. Please forgive me.
Anyway, lets get on to some constructive additions to the thread.
The range report is fairly brief. Shot just shy of a case of shells through it, including some hand thrown trap. No real surprise, but hot damn are flying clays hard to hit with ghost ring sights.
Function is perfect, it fits me well, it hits where I aim after a quick adjustment of the track-lock rear sight. It was a Warm Fuzzy Feeling kind of day at the range.
I also did some patterning of the loads I'd considered for HD.
These are at ~10m, about the longest distance I'll encounter in my house, out of the 18.25" fixed cylinder bore.
Win 16 pellet #1
Win reduced recoil 9 pellet 00 (~1050 fps)
Rem 9 pellet 00 (~1300 fps)
This thing won't be used outside the house, so I'm happy with the results, and I'll be going with the 16 pellet #1 load. It had a nice pattern and spread, with recoil somewhere between the full house 00 and reduced recoil 00.
All the talk of horrendous recoil had me curious, but none of it was even nearly uncomfortable, let alone unmanageable. That's either a testament to the stock's recoil pad, my lack of recoil sensitivity, or both. The reduced recoil 00 was noticeably tamer than the full house 00. Subjectively, in terms of perceived recoil, I'd rank them thus:
9 pellet 00 reduced < 16 pellet #1 < 9 pellet full house 00
You asked about LED conversion. If it's exactly the same bulb as the SureFire you can replace it with the P60L.
When I said it was essentially the same, I just meant the bulb. The P60 assembly is very popular for drop in compatibility, and if I could have, I'd have gone that route, but the scorpion isn't upgradeable like that.
I ended up buying a Fenix TK10, which is an LED and brighter (225 lms) than my scorpion (~100 lms). Being an LED I don't have to worry about blowing bulbs from recoil, and combined with rechargeable CR123 batteries, this light should last near forever. I'm not a light fanatic/techie type, but I've never been so in love with a flashlight, not to mention it looks great on the gun, too.
As you can see, I gave in and found a light weight solution to further stabilize the mag tube.
I think she's all done, fellas.
