I bought a 91/59 from an old gent about 10 years ago for $100. Didn't know what it was - I thought it was a Model 1938 for the longest time. Then I read an article that explained it all.
You won't find many at that price today. LOL If you do I would grab it.
I have never fired these so I don't know much but there should be a large flame ball I would think.
I have heard a lot of stories about how and why these were made. These just filled a place on the wall for twenty years so I have to clean a lot of dust of them. Get a few more pictures for the scrapbook. :banghead:
They took 91/30s in 1959 and cut them down to the handier length of the M38 carbines. They left the full length rear sight on them. Some have all the meter marks on them and some are machined off down to the M38 range marks. The 91/59s always seem to be accurate rifles. Maybe because they were cut back to cleaner rifleing and recrowned. Nice pair you have.
