Another good one gone!

My best friend and shooting buddy called while I was out to say his Dad died today. He has been fighting valiantly against a bunch of illnesses these last 2 years and finally gave up the fight today.

He was my "adopted father" these last 27 years since my Dad died long ago.

Robert W. Whitsell was a WWII fighter bomber pilot who flew 93 missions in the Pacific. He was the kind of man I think we would all like for a father.

I wish I had been home when my buddy called. I will end up going down to the city to spend time with him during this painful time.

If you are of a mind to, say a prayer for the family of this veteran and father. He is among the last of a great generation.

Sorry to hear about your loss and our prayers are sent. My father was from the same generation (Army Infantry, WWII, Europe) and passed in 2002. We are quickly losing a valuable resource for inspiration to doing the right thing for the right reasons. They will all be missed.
