One more for Prayer

Update ...

Just heard from my aunt. My uncle has finished three chemo treatments and will wait 21 days for more. It gives his body time to recover from the bad stuff and for the good to work. Next week he is headed to Stanford Medical Center for a second opinion from doctors there. Stanford is considered the place to go for this sort of thing. My uncle feels good at this point and has had no after affects (thus far) from the chemo. He has a good attitude, despite the low survival rate of this type of cancer: 20%, my aunt tells me. Prognosis is six months without treatment, a year and a half with. My uncle's attitude is to expect to be among the 20% who survive!

My aunt closed her note with: "Keep your prayers going, please. We are in the hands of a loving Lord. That is the best place we could possibly be."

Healing angels inbound on the fast track.

As long as he keeps a good attitude and that fighting spirit, his odds of recovery are better than average.

The mind is a powerful tool and is intimately connected with the body. Just as we can make ourselves sick if we imagine it enough, we can heal ourselves as well. Never underestimate the power of God's handiwork.

Update: 4/2/2004

As I hadn't heard from my uncle in a while, we telephoned him last night to get the latest report. He was out, but we spoke with my aunt. She reports that they are guardedly optimistic. As a result of his first two rounds of chemo, the tumor appears to have shrunk 40%. Given this progress, they have decided to continue for the full battery--I don't recall how many rounds that would be.

We are rejoicing in this measurable improvement and continue to pray that God will be pleased to leave this retired warrior on duty in this life for a while longer. Continued prayers appreciated.

Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

Update 4/30/04

Just had this from my uncle:
Today I got the report from my oncologist on the CT scan which I got last week after my third and fourth series of chemo treatments. You may remember that after the first two chemos, the tumor shrunk by 40%. Well, now it has shrunk by 50% more, or a total of about 75%. In other words it measures one centimeter versus four when I started. The doctor is pleased, so am I ... and so should all of you be. I really appreciate all of your support and concern and prayers. My oncologist has said several times, prayer is the most important treatment I can get, and it does more than he can do for me.
Thanks, all. We continue to pray and hope.

Done. I have seen some AMAZING things done through prayer.

Don't forget to ask your GUARDIAN ANGELS to help your uncle(out loud)
GOD BLESS US EVERY ONE.
