Soon to be 23 and that is the weird age of getting a CCW permit in missouri.

And I don't have a suitable gun. I have a CZ 75b single action, 7.5 inch barrel super blackhawk, And a Mark III bull barrel.

The CZ will work in the winter, with a shoulder holster. But for summer carry I want something smaller, but still in 9mm. Might buy a P3AT or an NAA eventually, for a pocket gun. Or a Serbu for the parts of town where ducks attack.

But I am thinking I will wear a belly band, and buy me some button up shirts. May move to a pancake holster, but for some reason I hate things on my belt. ( carry everything in pockets, knife, leatherman, flashlight ). Have worn a back brace at my old job, and found that to be pretty decent, even in 100 degree weather.

Glock 26 is my first choice right now. Smooth, nothing sticking out. and can take larger mags form 19 and 17, making it seem pretty good.

CZ rami, Because I like CZ's. But I would not buy the polymer version, because the only polymer gun I want is a glock. Also has 10 and 14 rounds mags.

Or anything comparably sized, in the $500~ish range.

If you like CZ, try the Compact, same as your 75B SA in a small frame, easy to carry, all steel, can be carried cocked and locked as well, if that's what you like. Or, the PCR or P01, both alloy frames, but DA/SA decockers, I carry both concealed easily in AZ heat. If you like the CZ frame, can't furt to look at thoe two, and still reasonable priced.

CZ 75 compact, Glock 26 or 19 ( I prefer 19), Kel-tec PF9 for a pocket 9mm (I'm very pleased with this gun), Rami, or M&P compact come to mind. Lots more money, but the EMP is a single stack well made 9mm.

75 compact on the right.

Still aiming for a small gun. Mostly because of grip length. My hands are plenty strong, and I am more worried about comfort. The 75 compact is a great gun, but doesn't fill the role I will need it for. I also have a CZ82, but it is also not what I am looking for.

Glock is lighter and simpler, But something about the rami just wants me to buy it.

Might buy a glock first, And a Rami later, Or a stainless 75b. So many good good guns that I want, but which one do I need..... first.

Is the CZ P-01 compact sized, with a rail?

I have a Glock 19, a 23 and a 26 and they all carry well in the same IWB kydex holster. The 26 is only about 1/2" shorter in the grip length than the 19 or 23 so it really isn't a big deal.

Also thought about the glock 29. Same 10 rounds as the g-26, a hair bigger, but a lot more potent 10mm.

I think it would not be the most pleasant shooter, but the idea of shooting someone is not that pleasant anyway.

If the Glock is happy in your hand, go for it (I'm sure you can find one to rent before you buy)
Take a look at the Walther PPS and Springfield EMP while you're shopping ... thin = comfort for many CC setups.

P01 is compact, and it does have a rail. PCR is same size, without a rail.

PCR to the left, P01 to the right, both conceal easily for me under a loose t shirt and quality IWB rig.

Go to a range that rents guns and try some on for size. Brings some friends along who have guns and will allow you to shoot them and then try some of those on for size as well. Take your time. Be sure to make a solid, thoughtful determination of which ones fit your hand and eye. Then give it a few days rest before going back and trying the ones you liked previously again.

Only you can decide the type of carry gun that will work best for you. All of the well-meaning posts on gun forums such as this one are useless. It's entirely up to you as to which gun will work best in your hands.

I like the feel of a lot of guns, and most point natural in my hands. I have the slightly larger than average hands.

Reason I am staying away from some of the mid sized CZ's is I don't like de-cockers. Want a cocked and locked hammer, or a DAO.

Glock, CZ, XD, 1911, revolvers, All of them feel just fine. With my favorite being the CZ. I am the best shot though, with my Mark III, but nothing in a 9mm is that grip style, except a luger...

I originally wanted a PF-9, but those are about the same size, but thinner, as a small glock or rami. And I like the more rounds of double stack mags. Also looked at some guns, that are now hard to find, Daewoo's that used to be cheap, and now are no where to be found.

In that case, the only CZ offerings you'd like would be the Compact, the Compact 40, both steel frame standard safety, the P07, the new poly with either standard safety or decocker, or the RAMI, my wife's favorite, with standard safety. That's a fine defensive piece, and quite concealable.

Shown here next to P01 and PCR for size comparison, with optional 14 round extended mag.

Whatever you pick, practice often and have fun!

Well, I went to the local money pit, and walked out with a Glock 26.

Been hinting for a rami for my birthday in a few months though.

Might also get my wife a bersa firestorm they had there, she will be 21 and needs her own pistol. And she liked the way it fit. So

she might walk out of there next week with that one.

If they have a Bersa of any kind, you'd better grab it up if you want it. They're hard to find in stores.

Was just gonna post that it sounds like you talked yourself into a G26:D

Let us know how it shoots for ya:)

Kinda late to the party, but AKA Zero

Often overlooked within your budget is the
DA/SA Semi-Auto single stack 8+1 capacity 3rd Gen.
S&W 908 - black matte Carbon Steel slide
S&W 908S - Matte Finish Stainless SLide
Allloy frame, 3 dot sights & 24 oz. empty weight.
& 9mm LUger They're on Gunbroker for < $500
Narrow for carry, with a long heritage for reliability

the 908 is the economical current build version of
the Cheifs SPecial and Lady SMith which were the
shortened barrel version of the 3913.

Perhaps you can find one for the wife to try at a range.

Heed these words as they are sound advice. The best CCW for you is the one you will carry! That IMHO is the only valid criteria. What others say is generally interesting but meaningless.

Well I just shot some +p frangible I had out of the new G-26.

Recoil is not as bad as I thought for such a small and light gun. Aims pretty well for me too.

Just need my ccw now.

My EDC.....
Glock 23 in an Alabama Holster Co. "Hooker" holster, spare mag in an Alabama Holster Co. IWB mag carrier, LCP with C/T laser grips in an Alabama Holster Co. pocket holster and a Cold Steel Ti-Lite.
