Any Accurate 4" stainless .22 revolvers

I don't own one (yet), but do plan to pick up either a Ruger KNR-4 (hard to find) as a partner for my Blackhawk or else the new SP101 in 22LR as a partner for my GP100. The SP101 is apparently pretty nice shooter, from several people I've talked to. I do have a S&W 22AS bottom feeder that is fun, but so far I haven't found it to much like the ammo I feed it. The Single Six Rugers are generally pretty good shooters, but not everyone likes the long hammer fall of the SA platform. The SA/DA SP101 is usually more to some people's liking.

Freedom Arms 252 is the most accurate I've ever shot (barrel might have been a bit longer than 4"), followed closely by a Dan Wesson.

If it didn't have to be stainless, a 4" Colt Diamondback is very accurate in .22lr

The S&W 617 in 4" is very acurate and has a nice action. They hold their value well too if maintained nicely.

I hope this isn't a detour, but I wonder whether the barrel length really affects the .22LR accuracy as implied by the OP. I shoot a Benelli MP95 (Atlanta) semi-auto target pistol. It (and it's grown up sibling the MP90) are considered highly accurate target pistols and has a 4.3" barrel. Quite remarkable actually but considering that, should a revolver be much different? Is it the transition from the chamber through the forcing cone in to the barrel that affects a revolvers accuracy?

Hard to beat a S&W 63 for a packable stainless .22 revolver.

Both of mine are at least as accurate as my bigger bore K, L, and N frames.

252 can also be custom ordered. Mine is 7.5" which balances nice with a scope. I'm sure you can order it in 4". Of course it is SA though. The grouping I aim for is in the 1" range at 100yd. (disclaimer) i find pistols much more challenging at this range than a rifle even off custom rest as I find maintaining the same grip shot to shot is very hard for me. So the pistol may be better than i can shoot!

I have an S&W 617 4" that I like a lot, and I have a 6" K22 that I like just as well (but you only asked about 4", so ignore that one).

22 Revolver

I picked up a Charter Arms Pathfinder for my wife to play with. The adjustable sights were dead on, and it was under $400.

I have had a few 22 handguns. None were as accurate as my larger bore pistols.
That's odd in my experiance I've had dozens of 22 pistols and never had one that wouldn't out shoot a comparable centerfire.
As to your quest a Smith 617 or 63 should work well, I have their carbon counter parts and theyre very accurate although due to it's light weight my 34 is no target pistol. I've also shot the SP101 it was accurate as well.

There are plenty of accurate .22 revolvers out there, but the requirements for 4" barrel and stainless steel reduces the group down to just as few. I have a S&W 617 that is very accurate and a 1 gen Ruger SP101 that is almost as good (the S&W K frame fits me better and it had a better trigger - probably why I shoot it better).

You can also get a stainless Single Six, but it will have at least a 5.5" barrel. The Bearcat can be had in Stainless, but it is a fixed sight gun, and quite a few need some Kentucky windage adjustments to shoot straight.

Ruger sp101 4.20" stainless in 22 would be an option but probably over 600.00. Nice weapon though. I have a s & w k22 in matte black 10 shot everyone loves but it's a six inch 10 shot. Everyone needs a 22 revolver. Lots of fun.

Have you guys ever shot the CCI Stingers?

.22 rimfires are strongly frowned upon in South Africa as a Poachers weapon. You sure don't want to be caught with one and not have the permits for it. Not even the ammo if you are not permitted to own one.

I think there are brilliant opportunities for these little rimfires. The Absolute destruction of tissue from those stingers is well beyond the diminutive case size. Ten of those bullets, accurate to 30-35 yards! For the selection of problem animals I need to deal with will be outstanding. Especially with the Crimson trace due to the night time activity of so many of these animals

I'm strongly Leaning towards the 617. Thanks for the guidance on this.

I have a Dan Wesson 722 in 4" that easily shoots into 1" at 50 feet, and a DW Model 22 that is pretty close to that. AND a Browning Buckmark that beats them both

Every .22 lr I've owned has been very "ammo sensitive", something that is great in one gun does not always work in another. Once I find the right ammo for one, I try to stock up if possible

I just bought a Ruger Single-Ten. It's 5.5" barrel may be too long for you, but it's proven to be remarkably accurate.

The 617 will have an edge in DA trigger as the medium frame has greater mechanical leverage which allows a somewhat lighter trigger. It also has a leaf vs. coil mainspring. I have a Model 18 K frame .22LR that has been tuned down to 8 lbs. DA with very few misfires. The additional weight makes it a bit easier to shoot accurately.
