I've had the itch to replace my AR with a higher-grade gun for awhile and am either leaning towards a very nice AR (Colt 6940/6940, LMT, BCM, etc) or another 5.56mm carbine (SIG 556, FS2K, or XCR most likely). Daniel Defense in particular has caught my eye because they seem to offer a whole lot of gun for the money. OK, so the DDM4 is not the most aesthetically-pleasing AR on the market, but the shorter-railed DDM4 V2 is really nice and offers some nice extras for a price just a touch above a Colt 6920. In addition they have a midlength DDM4 V3 coming out soon. The parts and quality control are very similar to Colt.

Does anyone own here own a DD gun or have experience with them? The opinions on M4Carbine and Arfcom seem quite positive.

DD makes very good quality stuff. I only have first hand experience with their accessories, not complete rifles, but based on my experience and the experiences of others I would not hesitate to buy one. Because I'm a fan of the gas system, I'd wait for the middie and snap one up with gusto.

I have shot them but don't own one yet. A DDM4 will probably be my next full rifle purchase. They really are top notch. Right up there with BCM or Colt. The price is really good too when you factor in what all they come with. Pmags, Magpul accessories a nice BUIS and a great rail system.

BTW check out Larue!!!! They make some of the sweetest guns!!!! I love their mounts and they are top notch. I will probably get one of their uppers after I break my current AR. (I use them hard);)

Then build up that perty lower

Don't own one but I understand them to be top notch. The one downside I see is that they still use carbine-length gas systems (as does Colt), where most people view the mid-length gas system as being more reliable on a 16" gun with no downsides.
