I picked up a practically NIB DPMS "A-15" (semi M16A2-pattern with heavy barrel) in a trade a few months ago. Listed for circa $700, but I obviously didn't pay that (the trade was one of those "win-wins"). It was my first Little Black Gun, and I've been very satisfied thus far. I'm not a huge fan of the AR-15-pattern, but I might become one.
I've got three great DPMS rifles two AR-15's and a LR-308. Very happy customer and like I said great rifles (if you like accurate & reliable you'll enjoy a DPMS). Just plan on replacing the triggers with 2 stage or match type as the stock mil spec triggers are the only negative IMO.
DPMS makes some stuff optional to make there base model AR’s cheaper like 2 stage triggers and chrome lined barrels. Stuff that would be standard on other AR’s.
Good luck in your search finding one. It took me right at a month to get my “Sweet 16" almost a year ago before the election panic got going good. Now I’m sure it would be 6 months to a year wait.
Try the search function. If you don't want to, at least put "DPMS Panther" in the title of your thread so other folks, in the future, can find more info than they wanted without having to post a thread and wait for responses before getting what they need to know.
As far as triggers go, I'd recommend the Rock River Two-Stage National Match trigger. It's way better than it deserves to be for ~$120.
I have a DPMS "Panther-Lite"; 16" barrel, 1:9, flat top bare-bones configuration. I paid $803 OTD in Nov. for it new. So far I have put probably close to a thousand rounds through it without a hiccup, subjected it to snow and single digit temperatures, cheap ammo and plenty of mag dumping.
No hiccups whatsoever, period.
edit: Only gripe is the trigger. It could be smoother, but meh. It doesn't bother me enough to fix it.

Gee thanks "Kind of Blued"..........I'll have to remember that, sorry for the trouble.
