I am thinking about buying The Gold Combat II. I like all the custom shop features that are available on this model but i dont know anyone who has it that can give me some feedback.

Any owners care to give a breif review on it?

Just picked one up last week, actually. It was lightly used and had a new slide with an internal extractor. Put 472 rounds through it to break it in. Two FTFs within first 100 rounds, both from a MEC-GAR mag I had laying around. Quit using that magazine (others were wilsons and mccormicks) and no problems the rest of the time. Shoots very well. Sights are a little off compared to my custom cdp II (hitting 9 o'clock vs POA), but groups were better. Very smooth firing weapon, and I'm finding that I like the heft of the steel frame more than my cdp for range work and seemingly quicker followups, but I haven't carried it all day yet. A smaller preference I have is the grips, in that the checkering is not as aggressive on the Combat as they are on the cdp, but this is something that can easily be changed.
I did a search here and on several other forums but didn't get a whole lot of information about them. Overall I am very pleased so far but time may tell. I've had the cdp for over five years now and I absolutely love that weapon, but wanted another quality 1911 to give it a spell as the round count is adding up.
Here's the weapon:

And here's the blister I got between 600 rounds with the cdp on July 4th and the 472 rounds on July 8th.

Feel free to PM me if you've got more specific questions you would like answered or pictures you'd like to see.

thanks for the reply.

I think i'll be buying on Aug 1st. I am getting some money from a settlement and I could use a new 1911. I am thinking about the Kimber Gold Combat w/Lightrail.
Although i wish i could afford a Springfield Professional Lightrail FBI model.

Thanks again and anyone else has any input, post it!

I got one a few years ago. Never had a FTF with it. Go's bang every time and is quite accurate for combat sights. It is one of my go to guns. Mine is stainless with the internal extractor. When I purchased it it was just over $1K. The price sure has climbed on them.

Thanks for your posts.
Just put down the deposit to get it ordered. Kimbers Custom Shop said they would ship it out today.

I should pick it up tomorrow so look out for the pictures. I cant wait!
