In the past month or so there have been about 20 shootings in my area. I was in the restroom of a fastfood resturant when shooting started in the parking lot. Then last week another shooting at the Mcdonalds just up the road. Then 3 more with in 7 blocks of my house. Where I work I hear the city Fire Dept get called out for shootings seems like atleast once a day. In most cases the guns are illegaly owned/possesed and it gives the anti crowd plenty to run with. I hate it!:cuss::fire:

Any one else tired of this?

I just used the word random to describe the locations of them. From good areas to bad and of various populations. Seems like most are daylight shootings these days. Some are justified which I have no problem with but most shootings are bad guys shooting other bad guys, again I have no problem with that either but all too often its in a public location where others are placed at great danger of getting hit with a stray bullet.

I don't know Eric, but I am coming to VA beach in three weeks, armed but certainly not looking for trouble. So I hope it calms down by then...

There doesn't seem to be much random shootings per se, but there are a lot of gang related shootings in my area. Seems to be kept out of public places thankfully. I also have no problem with bad guys shooting bad guys.

You mean to tell me that gun crimes are increasing in spite of the ability of Virginians to legally carry openly or concealed?

Suffolk eh?

Try living in Richmond.
Not just Suffolk its most of the area. Portsmouth Newport News Norfolk Hampton Isle of Wight South Hampton County pick one!

Romma Va Beach seems cool right now but thats another hot spot usually. Check out the web for the Virginia Pilot its the local news paper they cover Va Beach. Also wavy.com local news channel.

infact as I sit here typing this NNFD just put a shooting out at 45 and Marshall not a great area. guess I made quota for the day.

Funny you mention this last month a legal ccw'er shot and killed a robber trying to rob him in his driveway. Then 2 weeks later an illegal ccwer shot a guy robbing him. He was legal to own the gun but no ccw permit. To date he has not been charged and he did get his gun back.

What are reported by the news media as "random shootings" rarely are random. Most are premeditated with specific targets. That you take to the bank.

No, I really don't mind bullets flying around randomly. ;)

This week in the St. Louis region, we had a very non-random shooting. It seems a fellow set his truck on fire across the street from his house, then shot at the cops and firemen when they came (killed one fireman, and wounded two other people). Then he set his house on fire, and died therein. I presume he shot himself.

Was sitting outside a pizza place eating dinner with a co-worker, and heard what sounded to be either a .40 or .45 round touched off across the street. It's sad when you reach the point of instinctively identifying caliber and source, and yet don't so much as get up to look and see what's going on.

Guy I work with was standing next to a neighbor when a car drove by and started blasting. Seems that it turned out said neighbor was a dealer that had angered the wrong bunch. My coworker took a 9mm round in the shoulder and they missed both of them with every other shot. Decent neighborhood. Neighbor ended up going to jail when the cops investigated. Shooters are still at large.

About a year ago we had three murders within a mile or so of my home in a three week period. The first one was a shooting at some club at the front of my neighborhood (which has since closed, thank god). Then somebody shot and killed the manager of the golf course in the parking lot so they could take her money bag. Last one was a guy randomly shot and killed while walking his dog down the street from me. That was when I first decided I needed more guns.

Luckily there haven't really been any major incidents since then.
