Feeg was/is a manga character. In my circles such fantasy types are derided because the thought of any Japanese person of today wielding any sort of useful weapon is rather comical in a pathetic fashion, but many of the same fans of manga devour airsoft products, making them rather obvious wannabes.

They want to be heroic but all they have are their comic books.
They want to feel dangerous but all they have are their fake firearms.

And I would question the judgement of any American of buying age or higher who would buy a fake weapon when he could own a real one.

I would be personally embarrassed to ever admit shopping for an airsoft, let alone be caught buying one.

Airsoft= sport of the disarmed sheep. To wit:

I've got a spring loaded P99 clone. Handy for target practice inside the house. Good also for role-playing self-defense situations. Hurts just enough that you don't want to get hit.

They are not real accurate, they are not all that like real guns, but they have their uses.

Whatever Boats. I too have an airsoft spring pistol. Its really useful for indoor target practice and even came with a target. They also make for great cheap training tools (but wear eye protection). I would not pay hundreds of dollars for one since I could get a real gun for that. They're the cheap amateur alternative to simunitions. In some ways they are superior because they cannot fire real bullets.

I don't have one. But I would like to have one. The only reason I don't have one now is because I don't know enough about them to make an educated decision on which one to buy. Obviously I want one that is as close to the real thing as possible.
I can see a couple very good uses for one: force on force training, and the ability to train in environments that would prohibit actual firearms (like your own house). For example: I thought it would be fun and educational to get together with some of my shooting friends and set up senarios in our own houses with either ourselves as aggressors or paper tragets. One of the guys at my local gun club has recently opened an airsoft facility. It has indoor and outdoor simulators that have movable walls etc so the configuration of the building can be changed at will. It is going to be used in the mornings by law enforcement and open to the public afternoorns and weekends. I expect it to be very popular.

Well, this wouldn't be the first time my judgement has come into question, so I guess I will have to live with it. But, your logic requres at least two things to be valid: #1) the person buying the airsoft actually needs or has a desire for more "real" guns. I have well in excess of 100 "real" guns, so this doesn't really apply to me. #2) The person in question doesn't have the money for "real" guns AND an airsoft gun. I am not rich, but I have a fairly good income, my expenses are very reasonable, and I am single with no child support to pay. In short: I can buy pretty much any "real" gun I want at any time. So, I buy what I want and not what other people think I should buy.
If and when I decide to buy an airsoft gun, it will probably be a mock AR15. I own something over 10 "real" AR15s outfitted with all the cool accessories that I want. There are no other AR15s that I want, and I don't know of any other AR15 accessories that I want and don't already have with the possible exception of a night vision scope and/or a suppressor. Buying an airsoft gun would not prevent me from buying either item.

come on guys its a cheap fully automatic toy :D the blow back glock 18 is a blast to shoot blows back on each shot just like the real thing and u dont need a class 3.

Congratulations 444 I stand corrected. You are obviously not a wannabe. Now if we could only account for the 99.99999% who make up the fetishists we'd be on to something other than the exception to the rule.:D

I saw FFKG on the Shooting Gallery the other night.

My wife and I though, yeah, that's a GREAT idea!

We're shopping for an air soft gun and some protective gear.

We're going to do the Tueller Drill for REAL then.

Uh, anyone got a website where I could get one of those air soft pistols with the reciprocating slide for a decent price?

www.redwolfairsoft.com and if u want some real full auto fun with in a realist package get the KSC Gas Blow Back glock 18 with a metal slide its both full auto and semi and since it runs on gas it is very realistic and has the action slide back on every shot. also there are AEG's which are most of the rifles which run on batteries but has no blow back feature so there for less realistic but still tons of fun.

I have a springer Beretta 92FS from UHC. I love that thing. For $20 its sure a fun little toy. Im looking at picking up a Tokyo Marui AK-47s in the near future. Sure AEGs are pricey and Id rather have a real AK but it wouldn't do me much good sitting in my basement in RI while Im at school here in FL.

Personally for buying I stick with Airsoft Atlanta because they are domestic (no customs mumbo jumbo) and warranty anything they sell you. I had some problems with a weak mag spring for my 92FS and they sent me another mag no questions asked and earned themselves a repeat customer.

I don't have a problem with people having Airsoft toys. Quite fun.

I do however, wish the disarmed feegs over in the UK and Japan would get their act together and try to change the gun laws in their countries instead of playing soldier. :banghead:

Well, I own a "real" submachine gun now. A Sten Mk.II. It doesn't do anything for me either. I almost never shoot it. I have owned it for a couple years and probably took it out 3-4 times and two of those were matches. I am not a big believer in full auto. In these full auto matches, I know for a fact that I could have completed the course of fire in less time and with better hits with a handgun than I can with the sub-gun. There is no question in my mind that I could have done even better with my semi-auto AR15 with an Aimpoint.
The training I would like to do with airsoft has nothing to do with full auto, so, I don't see that feature as being desireable.
I also fired an airsoft AR15 on full auto. Denny Henson (SWAT magazine, THR and TFL) brought one to my Gunsite 556 class. He was doing an article for SWAT on it at the time and let us play with it for a few minutes. It was cool to shoot it full auto, but after the novelty of it wears off, I don't see where it would be any benefit for training.

For serious work, semiauto's almost always better. There's more to life than just training, though. For turning ammo into noise and :D, full-auto's hard to beat.
