I'm looking for general opinions on Encore rifles for distance shooting (500-800 yards).

Bolt actions have always been the main staple in my family, but I am curious how accuracy is affected by a break action. And, I find caliber interchangeability intriguing.

While I like the Encore rifles I think you will be better served with a tuned Ruger Number One rifle for that type of long range single shot shooting.

The Encores are extremely accurate when combined with a good barrel from Bullberry Barrel Works or Virgin Valley Arms. Add in good reloads and things can get REALLY impressive.

My Encore has been my varmint rifle for about 4 years now. I've got a 24" Bullberry heavy varmint taper barrel in .22-250 on it, and using loads worked up for the rifle, I'm getting groups you can cover with a dime from the bench.

The only issue I see with the Encore would be the fact that it's a VERY light rifle, so larger calibers can get painful to shoot. A friend of mine has one in .270 Win, and it recoils much heavier than his Remington 700 in .338 Win Mag.

another vote for the accuracy of the encore.I have a 25/06 and a custom barrel in 7.5X55.both will print a 1 inch or under at the 100 meter line.
never have shot one at 600+ yards.

Good food for thought. Thank you.

Never shot a 25-.06. Good excuse to go find one. Maybe, in a No. 1.
