Any Place that sells Savage Long Actions (.270 Win)

I want a .270 Win but the savages have thin barrels, and I don't like the other options out there.

Any place that sells JUST the action for a 110/114/116?

Long Action, Accutrigger, 30-06, 25-06 or .270 bolt (Figure they're the same bolt.)

I figure I'll start with the action, buy a good barrel and put em together.

Any Thoughts?

You might be better off buying a good used rifle and using that action. I've never seen actions sold by themselves. Try Brownells.com for tools and other parts. Good luck.

Find a used Stevens 200, its the same action, minus the accu-trigger.

You can get them new for $250, or used for under $200. Then you can sell off the extra goodies (stock, barrel, etc..) you don't want.

A gun named Jim Briggs (Northlander) on Savageshooters.com stocks all of the Savage actions, new factory barrels, and McGowen and Shilen pre-fit barrels. And if he doesn't have it, he can usually get it. Great guy. It is easy to find a used Savage though and part it out, and sell what you don't need.

I've done what you want to do, and made a 223AI, 6.5X55, 338-06, and 6.5X47 Lapua. It is so much more rewarding than walking into a store and writing a check for a Remchester.
