I would love a Saginaw Carbine some day. Many of my family worked at that plant, and IIRC some while the carbines were being produced. Growing up some 25 miles from there, it would be what I would want.
I have a Saginaw Carbine that came from its second owner , after Uncle Sam , with all of its CMP paperwork : $17.50 per carbine with $2.50 shipping and handling and rounds for it were .08 each with 600 minimum
I don't know if it's *good for * anything , but I couldn't give you an actual reason as to why I might need to own an AR-15 , SL8 , M1A etc either . It's fun , has classic good looks , fun , looks great , is historically significant - well the M1 in general if not the Saginaw's actual history - and is just fun .
