Looking for an all copper bullet for hunting and looking at one of the 3 bullets. Anyone have any luck with any of these 3 or other options. Like to keep it between 165gr and 180gr all copper bullets.

I've loaded the Hndy. GMX in 55gr. It grouped OK (1 1/8" @100 yds) Blame the shooter. My gun is a 20" 1:9 twist and I think a 1:7 would shoot that bullet better. On close examination I think the GMX is tipping just slightly. I've not shot it @ 200 yds so I don't if that will get worse with more distance.
I'm ready to try the Barns triple shock BT 62 gr bullet. It says 1:9 or faster...we'll see.
I think these gilding metal bullets are a bit long for their weight. That may be a problem for a 1:9 barrel...I don't know.

If your rifle has a fast twist rate, you may have much better results.

I'm sure, from what I wrote, you could tell I'm shooting an AR. I don't think any of this will help you...don't know why that 165-180 grain weight didn't stop me.
Good luck! and Good shooting!

Bushrats;

I loaded some Hornady GSX's in a .30-06. Anaconda wanted to buy the gun to mine the copper out of the barrel. Friends of mine had reported the same type of problem with Barnes bullets in their rigs. I'm very firmly off of all-copper bullets now & will remain that way regardless of advertising claims. I've found that a reasonably priced conventional bullet, properly placed will do the job quite nicely on any game animal I've encountered so far.

I'll go one further, 300 WSM, which is where I threw down an anchor. 165 Hornady GMX;

Excellent expansion, 100% weight retention good accuracy,(right at 1"). Velocity must be above a certain level, IIRC it's 2200 fps.(Check Hornady's websight, I believe they spell it out.

Oh, and, the GMX is made from Guilding Metal (eXpanding). Which is what everyday bullet jackets are mad from. Those above did not excessively foul my barrel.
