Just found out today they are releasing a limited run of P228's in desert camo finish . Should be out shortly .
I think I need one . :D

Great gun...I just got my first P228 a few days ago. Fantastic balance, SIG reliability, great trigger, holds a good amount of marbles in the tank. The P228 has quite a cult following...it's hard to find a P228 owner who doesn't rave about it.

Very nice pistol MK ! I have owned 3 or 4 over the years . Wife , kids , mortgage make it tough on a gun man . I'll have another this year . Depends on how the desert camo looks . I ordered some for our store to sell . I also like it because it's a factory issued run .

I would trade in my H&K USP for one, if they ever decided to make one with a thumb safety so I could carry it cocked and locked.

I’ve owned several Sig’s, (2) 220’s, (1) 226, (2) 229’s, (1) 239 and my trusty 228.

Out of all of them if I had to pick one to keep and toss all the others I’d pick the 228, it’s a rock solid gun, but then again so are all my Sig’s. It’s very easy to carry; I carry mine IWB most of the time. You can find standard capacity mags just about anywhere, in new condition and fairly reasonable to boot. It will digest anything you can feed it.

My 228 is a primary house gun, keep it loaded with 13 rounds of 124 grain Gold Dot.

Got a Camo on order .... sure would like to see what they look like though!!! Unfortunately I have to put yet another gun up for sale to finance this purchase (no, I'm NOT selling another SIG). Oh well, I think it will be worth it.

I've never handled a P228 but the Camo made it hard to pass up. I have a P220 9mm/38 super, P226 Sport Stock, and a P225 that I really love so I suppose I'll like the P228 also.

Cant' wait!!!!!

I think anyone that has held one is a fan.

I've been dreaming of one since I first held one, and I bought it last week.

As soon as you put the gun in your hand and bring it up on target it feels right. The gun points very well for me.

Sorry to sound so pro-Sig but they are one of the great guns.

Sig P228

I picked one up about 15 years ago, with 4 high capactiy mags. I like the ergonomics of the gun. I put about 200 rounds thru it and found I don't like 9mm guns, so it and my other 9's (G17, G19, 92f) sit in the safe.

Appropriate that my first post on this fine forum be about the Sig 228.:)

Its my favorite Sig, the best all around pistol they make IMO. Built like a tank, flawless performance, 13+1 capacity and small enough to conceal. I like most Sigs but if I could only have one it probably be the 228 (or 210 ;) ).

Just so you know, you can pick up factory Mec-Gar 15 round flush-fit mags for the P228 cheap these days.

They work flawlessly too.

It's nice that the Mec-Gar mags are available, but it's hard to buy them without knowing where to look.

Greeting's All-

I own a older SIG P228 (circa early 1990*), and I'm
here to tell you its my second favorite SIG!:uhoh:
You see, my first love is its big brother the .45 caliber
P220A!:D At any rate, both of them are welcome in
my home~ :)

*FootNote- the P228 wasn't even introduced until
1989. Mine is marked "Herndon, VA" on the slide;
instead of "Exeter, New Hampshire".

Best Wishes,

Wanted one. Couldn't find one. Ended up with a 229 in 9mm instead. Cost me about the same. Now my dealer has a new 228 for around $600 IIRC. I'm somewhat tempted, but since I already have a USP9C on layaway, I'm going to let it go.

I think i was about 12yrs old the first time I actually hit anything with a handgun. It was a Sig 228:)

What's the deal with 13rd and 15rd mags for these? I know I can get 92FS 15rd mags for about $35 used.

Where can you get 13rd mags for the 228 at a good price? I picked up a Sig 239 a few months ago as a summer CCW, but I still prefer the 228 over my Beretta 92FS. The AWB just killed my interest in hi-cap guns other than the 92FS.

Hey Sodapop, the best place I've seen for 228 pre-bans is in the classifieds on the Sigforum. They are going for about $45 a piece in real good condition.

:)

My personal favorite SIG.

Great balance of light weight, pointability, size and capacity. Right up there with the P7M8 and G19/23/32 as a top-flight EuroCCW gun in my book.

Thanks for posting the pics, Mitch.

Not my cup of tea, but it will likely have appeal to some...

Surprised they didn't try to cram a rail on this one too...

Don't give them any ideas.

I wonder how durable this finish is. I certainly wouldn't want one like this, but then again that's me. I like basic colors like black, silver (grey), or combinations thereof. If it lights your flame, go for it.

I saw a NIB P228 the other day... for $750! I'd love to have one, but at that price, no thanks. To be fair, it was at a shop that has a reputation for being overpriced. Same shop is selling a Glock 19 for $665.

If I run across a nice P228 at a fair price, I may even trade my P225 for it.

Nah.
