Any thoughts on Super Sniper Scopes

I have a 10x with a mildot reticle and would not buy it again. The knobs are sloppy and do not have distinct clicks.

They are about as tough as a scope can be. The main complaint is the mushy clicks. There are some mods you can do to it to make clicks better. The turrets are very repeatable though and you get a good amount of adjustment. I think people who complain about them just should send me theirs and spend the $900 on a mk4  You will not find a better military spec sniper scope for $300 plus it is made in Japan and has a really good warranty by Bushnell.

FYI, I purchased a late manufacture 16x SS Scope for $299. I can't say about earlier made ones but the clicks on mine are just fine. Audible and very positive. From some reading I've been doing they have upgraded two things to improve this click thing. They have reduced the amount of water proofing grease and they have reduced the water proofing rubber O-ring size by a third. They say it is still good to 15 meters of water. Judging from mine I'd say they fixed the problem.

buddy just bought one, and I swear it is the clearest objective I have ever looked through. It is a large scope, which keeps me from getting one.

Love my 10x mil dot. Only issue up to now is that my rifle sucked. If it is good enough for a military sniper weapon its good enough for me. I would take a linky to any mods for the scope. I have a few clicks that are quieter than others but all are positive and repeatable, but not always audible.

So I decided to pull the knobs off to see if anything could be done to improve the clicks. I found that the mushy dial had a mangled o-ring. I didn't have a replacement but I put some grease on the inside of the knob and reassembled. The clicks are much improved. Now I just have to go to the range and see how much I screwed up my zero:D.

Winston here's a thought. If you could get the old 0-ring off you might try going to a Napa Automotive store and searching through the general purpose, transmission and A/C o-rings. I was a Ford tech for many years and you can get o-rings of just about any kind you can imagine. Just a thought :scrutiny:

The SS are ok, but why buy a fixed scope when you can pick up a Wonder Optics for the same price and it's a variable scope. Fixed scopes do not offer you the flexibility that variable scopes offer to the user.

Don't get me wrong the SS is an ok scope, but I'd go with a Wonder Optics or Falcon Menance if it was my money.

I have 2 SS 10x , one on a Tikka 308 and the other on my Sabre Denfence AR , no problems so far , been using them for a couple years now.

I didn't care for it for a number of reasons...

'Hairs' or paint dribbles/spots in the reticle,
Non-Scalable reticle,
Zero wouldn't change in cold weather
(grease keeping the reticle piece from moving without tapping on the optics tube),
Overly large objective demanded it be mounted too high above center line of bore,
'Mil Dots' looked more like round dots than actual 'Football' shaped dots it was supposed to have,
And on several field tests, the 'Dots' weren't centered correctly, even for Metric system.
Roughly 7% to 9% off in 'Range Finding' capabilities,
(Range Finding is the only real reason to use a 'Mil Dot' optic, and if that doesn't work, no point in using it at all.)
...................................

Personal complaint,
Has nothing to do with above listed 'Facts'...
I shoot AMERICAN ranges, as in YARDS,
My load tables and bullet drop dope is all in YARDS...

The 'Mil Dot' arrangment was supposed to be for Meters (Wasn't correct for that either).
I prefer my 'Range Finding' optics to be in Yards than meters since I'm not in any country that uses the metric system...

mine has worked flawlessly.i bought it about a year an a half ago.i put it on a remington milspec r5.wanted a good shooting,900 yard rifle and set up under 1500.00 dollars and that's excatly what i got.audilables clicks are clear, scope is built like a bag of hammers tough and the glass is as clear if not clearer than my 6.5x 20 x50 leupold mark 4.
