I have been thinking about getting a Mini Thirty. Mainly for plinking, or taking around with me on the farm in case I needed to shoot a coyote. Anyone have any recent experience with them? I know people always talk about accuracy problems with Ruger Minis. I am not looking for a long range rifle, probably would only be shooting 100-150 yards max. Anything I need to know about current Mini Thirties? Another problem i have heard that some older Mini thirties have is they dont always work with steel case com block ammo.

Well the primers on " com block ammo" are set deeper so that the cause. I reload for my 10 month old and 100yds yes 150 yds no. Sold one 15 years ago because of that and bought back because they're cool.

The only factory load that gives me a 2.5 inch 10 shot group at 50 yds is ppu with the red sealer on the primer. Any others are worse. My fitted to the oversized chamber hand loads does better

I was nailing clays with mine at 100 yards. Next time i get to my club with out to 300 yard range. I'll know what it can do further out. Mine was made this year.
You started with a good load !!
Mine is plastic and yours is wood. Either is good. I've never been around the tactical style.
