I went on Sunday. It was better than I've come to expect from the fair grounds shows.

The Good: There were some good reloading deals. I ended up coming home with some large pistol primers, new grips for my MKII, a mag carrier for my 1911 from Andrews Leather, some cleaning supplies (NOBODY in town has had any 9mm jags for months), and 2 RCBS shell holders that are now on sale in the For Sale forum because I forgot that I already ordered 2 :banghead:

There were some decent deals on rifles - new Yugo SKS for $168, though Arkady saw one for about $150. Saw an STG built on an Imbel receiver for $625, but it was from CAI. Pretty good knife prices - I was going to buy a Cold Steel OSS for $65 but the guy sold it before I made it back to the table. He also had the UWK for $55.

Pee Dee River Swamp Sauce: yummy.

The Bad: First thing you see when you walk up to the building is a sign on the door that says, "Concealed Weapons Permits Not Valid in this Facility" in red. Naturally this sign is ridiculous. For one thing, it's a GUN SHOW - the place is already FILLED WITH GUNS. Second, the sign is not even legal by SC law (you know, 8"x12", specific height from door, around ALL doors to building, specific wording/coloring, etc.). Third - and I'm not sure about this one - if the State Fair Grounds are state owned, CWPs aren't good anyway. If it is privately owned, carry is legit. Either way, the sign is garbage and just irked me.

So then I actually get into the gunshow and find my dad and brother. My brother informs me that he's never going to one of those shows again (at fair grounds) because they charged him AGAIN to come in. He had gone on Saturday and his stamp was still clearly visible on his hand. The guy that runs the show happened to be standing at the door and made a comment along the lines of "I have to pay rent on this place in two days" when my brother stated that he had been there the day before and shouldn't have to pay AGAIN. Oh yeah, not to mention the parking fee :fire: :fire:

The main thing I wanted to buy at this show was .308 surplus ammo. Only one guy had it - $4/box and it looked TERRIBLE. The prices on 7.62x39 were also high - $100/case. Last time I bought a case for $80 and I haven't seen prices go up since then (at least, not on the internet). So I ended up getting nothing that I really needed, but several things that I just wanted.

The Ugly: Surprisingly, there were quite a few gorgeous women there. Unfortunately, they were all with big guys. So much for finding a future wife at a gun show :( How cool would that be though, seriously :D

I toyed with the idea of checking it out, but didn't have anyone to go with and no money to spend there anyway. I figure I probably didn't miss much, but I usually like to go just to look at all the cool stuff.

Liquid-

I went Saturday morning, right at opening...my wife was with me, but since you went Sunday I'm pretty sure none of the gorgeous women you were eyeballing was her. ;)

If the ATM machine I stopped at hadn't jammed up on me ("transaction timed out"), I might have bought one of those Yugo SKS's, or at least tried to talk the guy down into the $140s. Other than that, my shopping list was pretty specific (have yet to see a Kimber Ultra Carry for a good price at any shows I've been to since moving down here), so all I bought was some 10mm ammo from the GA Arms guys. I was kind of disappointed that they didn't have any non- +P 230gr 45ACP HPs-it was apparently some sort of year-end, inventory tax thing. So maybe next month.
