I was out shooting my PT145 today and having an absolute blast when the slide locked back and failed to eject an empty case. I cleaned the jam and was about to go back to shooting when I noticed a "rattle" inside the gun. (thank god for electronic hearing protection. ) Anyway, I unloaded the gun and field stripped it and found this little piece of metal (picture below).
I couldn't figure out what it was as I couldn't (and still can't) see where it broke off of. I function checked the pistol and it seems to work fine so I finished off the magazine.
Then it occurred to me . . . I had checked the thumb safety and it did lock the slide, but I didn't think to pull the trigger with it engaged . .. .hmm, so I tried it and it sounded/felt like it was firing. I stuck a round in the chamber, engaged the thumb safety and pulled the trigger . .BANG. Ok, so now I know what's wrong . . . . .if the barrel was only threaded I could consider it a feature as with a suppressor and the thumb safety engaged you wouldn't have any noise from the action moving.
Anyway, just thought I'd share. I still love this pistol and I'm a little bummed that I have to send it in for repair but it's giving me a chance to compare them with S&W which is the only other company I've ever had warranty work done with. They're behind right now because I have to ship it at my own expense . . . .hopefully that will be my only complaint.
Have a good one,
Dave
