Anyone else like Commander sized 1911s?

My first 1911 was a Colt Combat commander. I still have that gun over 35 years later and to answer your question I still like it!

I dunno moxie,

I just can't bring myself to label a Baer Commanche, Colt Cmbt Cmdr, or STI Ranger as a 'Commander'.

You're right though. A Sig 228 is 'Commander size' as is a CZ Compact. Thats kinda why I used the qualifier of '1911 pattern'.

I don't know in what box the BHP belongs. Its 'kinda, sorta, almost nearly, maybe a first cousin' to a 1911 Pattern Commander.

Saltydog,

The non-Colts are definitely commander-sized, not Commanders, that was my point. The Colt Combat Commander is not the original LW-prefix, real, no-kidding, original Coltalloy- framed Colt Commander. It's a mere steel variation that the LW purists eschew. But I'll take one if you gimme one. The BHP ain't in the box at all, which is not to denigrate it.

I have two Colt Combat Commanders, XSEs, both stainless, both in .45 ACP. They are quite possibly some of my favorite 45 Autos.
I have a stainless NRM Colt 1991 Commander in .45 also.
I have carried a Colt Combat Commander as an off-duty Law Enforcement weapon and have one on my hip as I write this!
I love the Colt Combat Commander .45 ACP.

I own only one 1911 style pistol, a Kimber CDP II Pro, and love it. I would like to get another Commander sized pistol with a bob-tailed frame.
