Anyone ever seen 1911s in .30 Mauser or 7.62 Tokarev?

Just checking in to see if anything ever came of this. I know a few folks were talking about tracking down 1911 barrels in either of these calibers, but it seemed to hit a dead-end just like the .357 SIG Kahr MK40 conversion folks were looking for.

I've seen oblique references to 1911s in Europe in either of these calibers, for countries where 9mm and .45ACP were forbidden. And I once saw a 7.62x25mm 1911 (at the now defunct Just Guns in Austin), labelled as a Vietnam bringback.

I'm not necessarily out to buy one, just curious as to whether anyone has ever seen a 1911 in either of these chamberings, Stateside or overseas. Take care,

I saw a 7.65 Luger (7.65x22) Colt Commander for sale at one of US websites. It was claimed to be scarce model, made for German (?) police

I'm not sure if 7.62x25 wil fit into standard 1911 magwell, IIRC it is longer than .45ACP or .38 Super

They probably learned how difficult it would be.
I saw a few of the 1911s that had been converted to 7.62 Tokarev by the Communist Chinese, some came in along with the flood of Broomhandle Mausers they dumped on us Capitalists. Unfortunately, I did not get a chance to study one closely to see just how they had gone about it. All I could tell at the gun show was that the magazine was new made and that the front of the ejection port had been notched to let a loaded round eject.

I had heard the same, that the guns had some extensive modifications of dubious quality to overcome the OAL issue. I suppose loading JHPs or some flat pointed bullet would mitigate that, but preclude the use of surplus ammunition.

Barrels on the Chinese conversion guns are sleeved original barrels and the sleeve also forms a modified feed ramp.
Magazine spring are longer and stronger than a standard 1911 spring.

I have handled only one of these Chinese conversions.
The owner bought the gun without a magazine and modified a Colt .38 Super magazine to work with 7.62 Tokarev.
He has shot the gun with 7.63 Mauser rounds and said it functioned OK but there was nothing to report as far as the gun being accurate,,,,

I've seen the .30 Luger model Colt GM, also 9mm Steyr has been chambered in the Government Model. Those are probably the most obscure calibers I've seen in a factory Colt.

I don't have a pistol, but I do have one of the Chinese/Viet Nam conversion barrels somewhere. As previously reported, they sleeved a .45 barrel, and the resulting conversion apparently functioned at least. That's about all you can say about it...

Colt made some Commander Models in 7.62 Luger for sale in Italy, where ordinary folks are not permitted to own something with a bigger bore size. The found that the regular Government Model didn't function well because the cartridge didn't have enough impulse to cycle the slide. While Colt didn't sell this version of the Commander in the United States, extra barrels for converting 9mm pistols were available for a time.

In general, I'd say that neither cartridge is a good choice to use in the 1911 platform.

The one I saw in 30 Luger may have been a Commander, I was not that enamoured of the idea so didn't give it much thought. Both it and the 9mm Steyr were NIB Colts. They also made the Colt in 9x23mm.
