If memory serves, I think I remember reading a couple of posts by people who carry the Ruger SP101 in a Mika pocket holster. I just ordered one last evening. 4 to 6 weeks for delivery. I'd like to see how the Ruger looks in one of these, while I'm waiting. I don't plan to pocket carry this gun much, but I like the idea of being able to drop it in my pocket if I'm going for a what or doing some yard work. I tried it in another holster, and I was really surprised that is didn't feel too bad in the pocket.

The mods will delete the thread because if anybody had a sp101
in there pocket their pants would be around there ankles.:neener:

Sorry had to do it.:)

Well... It's not a pocket holster... But it sure is pretty... It rides in an older Bianchi IWB...

Nice, I'd like to pick up some wood grip inserts for my SP101.

Here's an SP-101 in a Ted Blocker pocket holster (alongside my 642 in a RKBA holster). The leather is not at all pliable and I have difficulty with the cylinder catching on the inside of the holster. It's definitely a carry gun for larger pockets than my Levi's. Let us know how the Mika holster is.

Wow, I like the SP101 holster. Complete protection in a sweaty pocket. I can see how it might be difficult to draw and reholster though. Still, I hope the Mika is half as nice at that one. I'll post a picture when I get it. Mr. Mika is busy, so it will be about 4-6 weeks before I get the holster. Also neat to see the side by side of the J-frame and the SP101.

This is turning into a pretty nice SP101 picture thread. I'd post one of mine, but the last couple of times I've tried posting here, the picture doesn't come up for some reason.

So are the wood grip inserts aftermarket, or are they available from Ruger?

Yep, I've been enjoying both of the Ruger sites. Thanks for the link.

LOL - It looks like it should be in a pocket. I carry a 3" SP101 and an Ultra CDP in Mikas. It's not too heavy. I'll try to remember to take a picture or two.

Out of curiosity I carried my SP101 in my Mika made for the 642 / 442 today for a couple of hours.

I wouldn't want to carry it all the time in pocket. Too heavy for my liking.

The x42 Mika fit the Ruger perfectly - actually allowing for a better grip and draw than with my 642-1. The trigger is covered sufficiently and the draw was smooth.

I don't know if Robert uses different sizes for the two guns, but I'd have to think that the x42 size would be just fine.

My camera is acting up, but I'll see if I can get a pic later tonite.

rd,

Actually, I have a couple of Mika holsters for the 642, and yes they do work. In my case, I like the holsters to be a little oversize, so that is why I ordered one specifically for the SP101. My holster also didn't quite cover the trigger guard as well as it does the 642.

Dan,

I'd like to see that picture, if you get around to it.

Here it is - SP101 2.25" in an X42 Mika.

Same amount of trigger guard coverage as an x42 in an Uncle Mike's #3.

Hi rdrancher,

Thanks for the picture. Not a bad fit in a pinch. I guess teh SP101 isn't really that much bigger than the 642. I post a picture of my gun when I get the Mika holster.
