I'm looking for an upper and see that White Oak has a varmint type with an 18" or 20" barrel for 595.00. Anyone have one? Are these MOA or SubMOA uppers?

Is is possible to build an upper like this or are these guys just too good?

My other options are the RRA coyote or the Bushmaster Varminter. I plan to scope the rifle and use it mostly for 300 yard prone from a bipod. I will also use if for 500 yard from time to time.

Anyone have a White Oak National Match? That might be next in line.

yep, have one. they're very accurate. accurate enough to win plenty of HP matches.
You can build your own if accuracy is what you're looking for. the key for accuracy is getting a quality barrel, with the chamber reamed correctly, and a matching bolt.
but you'd be hard pressed to do your own for less money than that.

Ive traded into a white oak precision 30HRT upper Jerkface11 had built a few years back. So far it's proven to be exceptionally accurate, well built and refined to the nth degree.

And get this my particular upper is built with a cheaper Wilson bbl blank, Because as Jerkface11 told the gentleman at White Oak apoun commissioning the build "it's only a hunting upper it doesn't have to be THAT accurate"

The below 100yd groups were fired in less than 1 minute from a stone cold bore

Nice looking rifle. I'd like something similar. I have a Rem 700 PSS in .308 and it shoots like your gun, but I think I'd like an AR better. I already have the .223 loading gear, and an AR NM type rifle, it just seams easier to stick with fewer calibers.

The .308 is extra work when I already have my 30-06 and 8mm and 30-30. Just seams like an extra burden at the moment.

i also used their cheaper 'house' wilson blanks. very accurate.

lb, no opinion on their bolt. it seems to work fine. never had a failure to extract. now that i think about it, after filling up five log books in matches, i probably should do a bcm bolt upgrade on it myself...

No extractor or any other problems with my SR upper ... I'm at 2100 rounds and haven't experienced a FTF, FTE, nada at all (actually I'm kind of amazed I haven't at least had a mag spring or ammo related issue ... all handloads).

John Holliger at WOA is a big proponent of the Wilson barrels ... he figures that for SR they are more than accurate enough and, even if it's true that their lifespan is a little shorter than Krieger or Pac, that's more than offset by the price differential ... and from what I've encountered, the whole lifespan debate is more a function of the individual shooter's barrel and loads used than an across the board outcome based on brand name.

taliv what do you think of the white oak bolt? i was looking at mine and i think it needs a BCM extractor upgrade
Mine looks like it's a standard off the rack bolt from a reputable manufacturer like Stag, but not necessarily a bolt like a BCM that has been MP tested, etc. to more closely meet the requirements set forth in the M16/M4 TDP (which are more relevant in a fighting gun than a target gun, anyways).

The main value of the included bolt is that it is matched to that particular barrel with regard to headspace. I don't think it's any different or better than your run of the mill Stag bolt otherwise.

I have two WOP uppers. The first one is a 6 1/2 to 1 Pac Nor because I had dreams of shooting 90 gr. Bergers at a 1000. Well, I have the Bergers but haven't shot at a 1000. I understand the 80 gr. SMK's will work fine and don't need such a fast twist.

This upper shoots everything put in the chamber. I use this upper for reduced matchs now as it has a large number of rounds through it. I've never lost points to a bullet not making it to the target with the lightest being a 52 gr. SMK. I also use this upper as a loner to new shooters.

The other upper is a low mileage Kreiger with a 7 to 1 twist. I reserve this upper for full across the course out to 600. The only real difference I see between the 2 uppers is the Kreiger makes no copper. They use the same number of clicks to get on target. I've never had a problem with the function of these 2 uppers. If I did, it was shooter induced.

If your shooting a White Oak upper and fail to the hit the X ring, it isn't the rifle and more than likely not the ammo either.........

OK, now that was pretty funny...

I have a White Oak DCM upper on a RRA lower. I got the pinned rear sight and .054 front. Fine rifle and it shoots MUCH better than I do. Any time I don't do well in a match, I can't blame the firearm.

Third one down...
