Anyone Interested in a 10mm snub nose?

Because making one that doesn't take moon clips would make it impossible to use two of those.
They have to make the chambers long enough for the longest round it will take. Since these are rimless, there's nothing to hold the shorter two in place.
I do think it would be a cool gun, though. And I personally would prefer moon clips.

S&W made the 310 Night Guard, that's as close as you'll get to what you're asking for.

While I've never had an opportunity to shoot a 3 in. 10mm S&W I have shot a friend's 3 in. .41 Mag. (almost identical ballistics and gun weight) a lot and very few people ever wanted to shoot that thing more than one time. Most of those guys had a large gash ripped out of their thumb by the cyl. release. 10mm snub sounds good in theory but it gets kind of ridiculous in practice. The flash and blast is just absurd. Just be sure to keep your thumb out of the way. With a 10mm I think I would rather have more than 3 inches of bore just to get the most advantage of the caliber. Of course you could handload it down but then what's the point?

Drail, people shoot 2.5 inch .44 magnums so im sure a 10mm would be no problem for that crowd, the 10mm may approach lower end .41 mag loads however it is not an equal. Charter arms has made revolvers for both 40 and 9mm without the need for moonclips so Im sure smith or ruger can do it as well.

10mm / .40 can work with moon clips.

38-40 WCF could not work in the same cylinder because the case is a bottle-neck shape, and .043" bigger around.

A 10mm snubbie would be an ear-gesplitten-loudenboomer and that's a fact.

I shoot a 10mm CCO configured 1911 and it's a barky rascal.

I love 10mm, and would love to see something other than Glock on the market, but I would have no use for a 10mm revolver with less than a 4" barrel.

I'd just love to find an old 610 with a 4 inch barrel or less. My 6 inch is horrible, muzzle heavy. I have little use for ANY barrel over 4 inches. and not too much for those.

Clements Customs can convert a Ruger GP100 to 10mm. Been thinking about doing this conversion to my 4" GP for quite some time. Guess the 16 month backlog has kept me from actually sending it in. Although if I would have sent it in 3 years ago I'd have had it back for some time now....

The 310NG is a10mm but it will shoot .40s with moonclips.
S&W also made a dedicated .40 revolver, the 646.

You mentioned something other than a Glock. How about a Dan Wesson in a 1911 frame?

I don't care for the muzzle flip in a 40 S&W, so I can't imagine how bad it would be in a 10mm. I shot a Glock 36 (sub-compact 45acp) and it nearly twisted my wrists off. I'll pass!

You shoot 10mm out of a 310NG or 610 without moonclips because the round head spaces on the case mouth. You'll need to pluck or poke out the empties, though, because it needs the moonclip for ejection since the 10mm is rimless.
No other choices as far as I know, since the Clements GP100 conversion also uses moon clips.

Why doesnt any mfng. make a 10mm snub nose with out moon clips and capable of also shooting .40 and .38-40.? Would be a neat smith "mountain gun" dont ya think?

Almost total lack of interest. :uhoh:

The .40 S&W wouldn't work in a 10mm. chamber without clips, and the .38-40 wouldn't work at all.

I suppose you could make something up based on the current Ruger Vaquero, supplied with three different cylinders, but I doubt many folks would be waiting in line.

Ruger did make a few Vaquero's with 38/40 and .40 S&W chamberings. I've seen the actual revolvers with dual cylinders. I wondered why they didn't make it 10mm and .38/40 as that would allow all three rounds.

Except the 10mm and .40 headspace on the case mouth. Unless they wanted to go with a moon clipped cylinder, (cumbersome at best) to do all 3 cartridges, 3 cylinders would be required.

And they were Blackhawks (unless there was a later run of Vaqueros)

Ah... If you use clips on a cylinder in a Colt, or Colt style Single Action revolver you will have to remove the cylinder to load or unload it.

Not that you couldn't... but ... :uhoh: :D

Ah yea... I forgot about that! Maybe a mini-moon clip that is for just one round (gives it a rim so to speak.)

That or a third cylinder. One for 38/40, another for .40 S&W, and a third for 10mm.

The market for such a gun. Other than a few die hard 10mm fans, who like revolvers, they would lose money on it.
