Anyone like the Romanian G kit with front

Personally, I think it looks uglier than hell and I'd probably cut it off.

With that said, I've seen a few but have never actually held one. I imagine the forward grip would help with controlling the muzzle while firing.

One of those things -- either ya love it or ya hate it.

I like it --- then again , I like the Hung AMD-65s --- like this one;

And this RPK looking thing I bought;

I was a hater too- its ugly as hell. But then I actually played around with it from a practical standpoint.

Until you hold one in your hand you don't realize just how useful that grip is. It makes sharp turns and sweeps so much more controllable. You really are able to pivot on a dime with it. Its the same reason that the AR gang loves their forward pistol grips.

So if you are in it for the looks, get a standard palmswell lower, but if you want it for tactical reasons (home defense, etc...) then the pistol grip lower is a big improvement, at least IMHO.

I thought the same thing when I first saw one "ugly as ****", but when I got hold of one, the light went on.

I prefer my AK Romey "G" with the pistol grip. The purist would hate hate hate my AK but it fits me just fine!

I like it, it really does improve handling and it does so for a tenth of the cost of a railed front end and AR forward grip.

As a rule, I detest forward pistol grips, but I have left a few romy G builds with grips intact. It is ugly as sin, but for some unknown reason, ugly AK's look good. Like the mismatched plastic on bulgarian 74s and polish tantals, the ugliness of romanian forward grips just "work" on an AK.

I prefer to use my magazine as a forward grip and these are to far forward for me. I find the magazine is a nice balance point. I have heard they have issues with 30 rounders locking in quickly due to the rocking of the mag but my friend only has twenty rounders for his so i'm not sure.

I agree their ugly as sin but their an AK so it's expected. That's why I love em

I think wood PG's on AK's are a nice touch actually. The one on my Rommy is great until its time to load my waffle mags, other than that I still think its a good investment.

Was never a fan of the broomstick style grips you see mainly on AR's, but if you have one more power to you :cool:.

Said 'issues' are usually only raised by spoiled AR15 owners who don't want to practice.

30 rounders run just as well in the Romy G as in any other AK.

30rnd mags should run fine in any AK if it's properly built. My "G" kit was installed properly into an Arsenal 1.6mm stamped reciever by Lancaster Arms.
