I havent decided yet,but mine has been flawless and i will NEVER EVER drop ANY gun,I dont really need another magazine, never sent a gun in the mail i would hate it get lost then i have NO LCP,plus is it really worth a 30 dollar mag that i dont even need for my gun to be handled by so many and possibly get damaged?

Also knowing what feeds reliably with the gun being altered would i need to start from scratch checking how reliable it feeds?

I havent decided yet

What are your thoughts?
Anyone decided NOT to send back?and why?

Thanks

Check with your local gunsmith. I bet he has a good way to send it back for "alterations". At a minimal cost I'm sure, but it would be safer...

I'd send it in anyways. The guns with a prefix "370" before the serial number have a flawed design. It doesn't matter whether or not you are currently having problems. They'll pop up sooner or later.

For example, mine started having the commonly reported problem where I'd pull the trigger and the hammer wouldn't drop (the gun won't shoot). Then all of a sudden the problem disappeared and now it's acting normal. Not good..I'm sending it to Ruger.

I suggest you do the same if your gun has a "370" prefix. You don't lose any money, and if it gets lost in the mail I imagine Ruger would cover it since they are sending out the pre-paid shipping label to you in the first place.

Dang-it! This is the first I've heard of a recall, and wouldn't you know mine is a "370" gun. It gave me fits early on but I polished up the ramp and did a few other little tweeks and it's performed well since, although I've yet to give it a rigorous workout.

Can someone post the "recall" details or offer a link to that information? What's this about the magazine? I have two but it sounds like I need two new ones? I guess I'll be sending mine in one way or the other.

Went to Ruger's web site. Kinda hard to miss. I'm signed up and will happily send it in. My biggest concern is that a gun that hasn't been retrofitted might be difficult to sell in the unlikely event I ever need to liquidate my collection.

I'm not one to drop guns but I have done it... once. You never know. Still, I never felt comfortable carrying my LCP +1. Not sure the retrofit will help with that or not.

Yo mama

how do you know your kt hasn't the same flaw. The hammer blocks are identical. Maybe just Ruger stepped up to the plate.

I'll take my chances on letting Ruger fix it right than putting a possable defective kt in my pocket:barf:

Agreed +1

Oh please. Don't make up a problem which doesn't exist. The Kel Tec is fine. Let this be a lesson to you... the company you haven't heard of before can make a fine product at a lower price, and the company you've worshipped for years can copy it, put a prettier face on it, charge you $150 more, and you can still end up with problems.

I'm sending mine in. Just bought it and haven't even fired it yet! I will fire it soon if I don't get the shipping info right away, which I suspect I won't.

Maybe they will replace the part that cracks. I read about that in another thread.

Step 2 - The new parts are being built and we will retrofit LCP pistols on a first-come, first-served basis as soon as they are available. When we are ready to retrofit your pistol, we will send you a shipping label and package with instructions so you can return your pistol to us FREE of charge.

Step 3 - We will install the new hammer mechanism, plus some other functional upgrades that we added since the LCP’s introduction, and return your LCP to you, all FREE of charge. When we do, we also will send you a FREE magazine with the new finger grip extension as a “thank you” for your patience and cooperation. We will make every effort to return your pistol within one week of receipt.

Pretty darn good service if you ask me.

I'm already signed up to send mine in, but do you guys think than an unmodified 370 series gun might have more collector value one day? I mean, if everyone is sending theirs in, it seems like an unmodified example might be more rare and valuable to a collector some day.

Now realistically, i realize that it's an inexpensive, plastic gun, and that it will likely not have collector appeal any time in my lifetime.

I havent decided yet,but mine has been flawless and i will NEVER EVER drop ANY gun,

thats why its called an ACCIDENT, and it might just hurt/kill you or someone else.

send it in.

Gun Lover and LEARNER?

I hope you never learn the hard way why they are called accidents. I have one friend that was shot because of a dropped firearm while target shooting.

Seriously, just send the gun in.

Think about it this way:

Do you ever watch NFL games? Those guys get paid milions of dollars for just sixteen games a season. They are paid not to drop the ball.

Do they drop the ball?

Federal law mandates that handguns be shipped USPS Priority Mail, or Common Carrier (i.e. UPS, FedEx) overnight to prevent loss and minimize handling. These services also have packaging tracking. The BATFE and USPS OIG take "lost" handguns very seriously.
i will NEVER EVER drop ANY gun
You have much to learn. Have you ever taken hot brass down your shirt collar, or to your face or eyes?

My feeling is... if you drop your carry gun, you deserve it to shoot you in the leg.( not anyone else, just you)
