Wondering if anyone uses any of the cheap double shotguns for cowboy shoots, three gun events, or HD?

I don't think they are well suited to serious wing shooting.

I've used the Baikal and Stoeger coach guns, and like them both. (Killed some crows with the Baikal, using no. 5 shot, and it worked fine.) I currently own a Stevens 311 that's been modified into a coach gun (see this thread for details), and I like it for plinking. I want another one! :D

There are wagon loads of them, along with Communist Chinese copies of Winchester '97 pumps, at any CAS shoot. Don't think I have ever seen a double at a three-gun match. Jeff Cooper thinks highly of the Lupara, the traditional Italian sawn off hammer double for a simple home defense weapon.

I"ve been using my Stoeger Uplander in cas for three years now,and it serves me fine.I bought it used so it wasn't real stiff to open like they can be at first.
A lot of the chicom's are used by cas shooters, most reauire breaking in and re-springing to be competitive, but they work fine.
There are tons of good used american made doubles out there, and I would go that way next time I think, since I don't care if the hammers are internal.
If you can, visit a cas shoot and ask the guys to show you their doubles.Nuthin' we like better than showin' our guns ya know.:)
