I saw this on Lock and Load recently. This thing looks awesome. I want one, even if it's only a semi-automatic. Wow it's cool.

Just watched it on L-N-Load. Comparing a crude Saiga to a state of the art AA12 is a joke.
You're right, it is a joke. To the AA12. The AA-12 is an example of an open-bolt weapon, which is how it dampens recoil along with a floating bolt. It doesn't even lock up prior to firing, it's a completely open bolt. :(

EDIT: Forgot to mention! The AA12 magazines need to be slid up a guide rail and then locked in. Complex and time consuming. S12 mags just lock in like an AK.

The joke is, you can really buy a Saiga.

You can't buy the vapor-ware AA12, and never will be able too.

BTW: One of the links in the OP launched an attack on my computer.
It started opening multiple copies of IE faster then I could close them.

Finally had to unhook the cable modem to stop it!!

Will alert the Marines that they are making a big mistake getting the AA12 as opposed to the Saiga. Our poor military - can't they just get cutting edge weapons like the Saiga. Yes I doubt a fully auto AA12 will be made available to the public but it would be nice to have a civilian version.

Can the Frag-12 rounds be fired by any shotgun?

I dunno, theoretically the AA-12 seems cool, but I think it just looks ugly and bulky.

They are being tested by the Marines. Good question. It does look ugly and bulky. It may feel real good. Those AP rounds are so cool with the fins that deploy in flight and stablize. Punch through 2" of steel and mini-grenades as well. I would think the answer would be yes for smooth bores as I believe the AA12 is a smooth bore. They are being tested right now as we speak in Iraq and Afghanistan I believe - Need to check on barrel and current usage.

i guess due to AK design
the Saiga would be awesome enough.

... the army can use flechettes ...
that would multiply effect in urban scenarios.

Why would u haul that monster around?

The MD 20 is being tested by the military, reportedly because the AA-12 was not up to the task. http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showtopic=44278 Post 28 specifically

Source?

The saiga is lighter, cycles faster, oh and the really important part is that it is not vaporware, you can actually buy one.

What do you mean, "even if it's only semi-auto"?

The first 'A' in AA-12 stands for "Auto".

:banghead: He means he would like one even if he is only able to own a semi auto version in as much as a full auto could not legally be sold to civilians in the US with the machine gun registry being closed and all.

I've seen and handled examples of the Daewoo USAS-12. They were interesting looking but I couldn't see much practical use for one.

See http://world.guns.ru/shotgun/sh16-e.htm for more information, or http://v2.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=156770585 for an available specimen for anyone who might want to put money into one (where NFA items are legal).

I think the AA-12 is btter-looking than the USAS-12. I realy don't think that the AA-12 wil ever be adopted. Full-auto shotguns are best left to the movies, they eat ammunition very fact and the magazines are huge for their capacity. Still, it's very cool.
