Anyone shoot Rainier 200gr. Plated RN? (45ACP)

I just got some Rainier 200gr. plated RN bullets. I can't seem to find any good load data for them. Does anyone use the same bullet in their .45's? Thanks.

It is generally recommended to use data for lead bullets with copper clad bullets like the Raniers. Any of the 200gr lead data should work just fine. Check Alliantpowder.com, Hodgdon.com, IMRpowder.com or Accuratepowder.com for data relating to their powders. Hodgdon also markets Winchester powder now and they have data for Winchester.

You probably wont find any load data specific to Rainer, lead data or reduced jacketed loads, see there website at http://www.rainierballistics.com and visit the FAQ.

I shoot the 200gr Ranier SWCs so my loads may come close for the RN models.
My best loads are:
9.6gr AA#5
4.7gr WST
5.3gr Win 231

I've also tried various loads with Red Dot, Universal Clays, & IMR 700-X, but these top 3 are the best I've gotten up til now. And the AA#5 load is a real tack driver out of my Springfield 1911-A1 Mil-Spec................it'll cut 1/2" groups at 15yds all day long for me. BTW, the OAL on those loads is 1.258".

Based on what I've seen in all my different pistols, the RN bullets may require a tad less powder than a SWC for best accuracy.

I'm shooting 200 grain Rainer HP's and they seem to like about 8 grains of AA#5 and a COL of 1.250 in my XD45. (FWIW)

Unless you just like the roundnose, get the Ranier 200 SWC which is extremely accurate. 8.5 to 9.0 Grs. AA # 5 @ 1.260 shoots very well. I like AA # 2 for this app. as well. Other powders will work well also. . The above posted load of 9.6 AA#5 and Ranier SWC is MAX, be carefull.

I did not have particularly good luck with the Ranier 200 FP or HP. They were OK.

The Berry's 200 HP is also very accurate and feeds extremely well.
It has been my experience that most .45 200 gr. bullet styles take a tad more powder than the SWC which generally seats a bit deaper and has more bearing surface. It was definitely true of the Ranier FP & HP, and the Berry's 200 HP & RFP.

I am going to get some WST at the gun show this weekend and try it for target type velocities in the .45. I am told this powder works very well for that with low noise and flash.

These loads are safe in my guns with my load procedures. Reduce 10% to start.

I shoot Rainier 200 gr RN.
Without looking at my log book (am at work), I seem to remember that I use 6.3 gr of HP-38 to meet the power factor for IDPA (got to be at least 925 fps for that weight).
Speaking of which, I am done to about 500 rounds, got to crank out some more this weekend.
