Brownells sells Pro-tec carbon fiber cleaning rods. Does anyone use them? I would appreciate your thoughts on them. Thank you.

Cleaning rod

I bought two rods . 17 and .22caliber. The tip broke off the .22 one almost immediately. The rod has a lifetime warranty, but I have contacted Pro-tech 6 times, each time they promise to send a new one, but I have never received it. I like the .17 rod but will never buy another

ProTec Carbon Fiber Cleaning Rods

SYDN,

I want to appologize for the problem you had with one of our rods. ProTec Carbon Fiber Cleaning Rods are made with the highest quality materials, but sometimes they break. Therefore, we offer a lifetime warranty on them. However, this year we have been selling our rods faster than we can produce them and this has created a backorder problem. The good news is that we have a new production system going into place in January. This will keep our production at or above demand.

Please contact me at the number or email below and I will make sure your rod is the first to be replaced. I will also include some extras at no cost for your wait. ProTec is a family owned business and we treat our customers right. I sincerely appologize for the delay and I will do whatever it takes to make it right.

I have contacted Pro Tech in response to Mr Hester's post.
We will see how this turns out.

Emailed Pro-Tec on Dec 28th and still havn't received reply.

Final word

Finally received the replacement cleaning rod from Pro-Tec this week. Also included were some cleaning products .

I appreciate receiving the new rod, but am irritated that it took about a year and a half to get it.

This forum is a powerful tool for us consumers to motivate manufacturers to back up their products.

Bought a protec rod spring 07. Liked the light weight and large handle. Major problem, though, the brass threaded tip kept coming off-not a great thing to have happen with a tight brush inside your bore. Protec warranty looks good until you read the fine print-you have to pay shipping BOTH ways, which amounts to $10-12 each way, this cost for a $30 item. I emailed Protec with my concern about the cost over a month ago, no reply. Sorry, Protec, you only have one chance to make a good first impression. I'll stick with Dewey rods.

These seem to be perpetually out of stock at Brownells. I hope they get their act together.
