Hey guys. i posted this on calguns. i thought i'd share it here too:

well i attended my first appleseed shoot on feb 19 and 20. well originally i was gonna shoot stone cobra carbine 2.5 but i had limited funds and i had to help my family move on 20th. i decided to sign up for a 1 day appleseed. after the first day, i said to myself "screw moving. i'm attending the second day." best decision i've made on both accounts.

appleseed turned out to be one of the greatest classes i've been to. i highly recommend to anybody interested in learning marksmanship and about american history. all i can really say is, it's an experience. i'm not really good at after-action reports, so here's some videos. enjoy!!!

Nice job! My fathers picking me up from college for a weekend so we can attend an event. All I have heard are good things about them and can't wait.
Quick question, all we have are bolt action .22 rifles...do you think it's going to be a huge problem using a bolt gun?

Bolt guns will make it more of a challenge, and a semi auto is easier to score high on, but the fundamentals they teach are the same on a bolt gun.

Nice job, and good videos. You looked like you were using your safety flag to release your magazines, is there a reason for that?
RT

california legal AR. it has a "fixed" magazine requiring a "tool" to remove it. it's stupid... i know :(

I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I've always said Appleseed is the best value you will find anywhere for marksmanship training... and it is so much more than just marksmanship training. An experience, indeed.

I've also always said that no one teaches the fundamentals better than Appleseed.

Nice videos, btw. Hey, I think you would look good in one of those nifty orange hats!

As for bolt-action rifles, they are fine. It really helps if you have at least 2 magazines for them, though. If they are tube-feeds, we will accomodate you. Or you can make a speed loader out of a Mickey D's straw.

Great videos! Sounded like you were having a great time...and results on those targets...good shooting!

My grandson will be old enough (three years) and I'm looking forward to taking the training with him and my son.

Again,great videos.

Good shooting there!

Couldn't help but notice in the first video you shot the AQT without a sling. Very difficult to score 210+ without the sling. Hats off to you!

Good shooting. I have been wanting to hit one up for a few years, but have never found the time.

I like the USAF emblem on your stock

Funny thing.....My wife is from California- the Bay area at that- and I told her about this. I also reminded her about all of the other laws regarding "assault weapons" including the non-fixed stock issue. I said that an adjustable stock had to be pinned. She said, "Well what if a bigger guy is shooting and then someone smaller wants to shoot next?" I said, "yeah," pretty simple stuff huh. Hilarious, but not funny how these sad laws infringe on people.

Laws like the above mentioned are based largely on ignorance about firearms. There is an effective and fun way of helping with this problem... come to an Appleseed, shoot Expert on the Army Qualification Test, join up as an Instructor in Training, and help us restore the heritage of marksmanship in this country. It is a great program to be a part of, and I believe it really is accomplishing positive change in our society.

Great job and good shooting!

I've also only been to one Appleseed so far. They taught so much good information like how to use the sling and natural point of aim that'd I'd never heard before. By the 2nd day I managed a 214 and was pretty happy.

You had the extra challenge of the CA reload. Looks like you'd had some practice at it though.
