AR-10, 7mm ?

Okay, an odd one- but hear me out.

Given that the AR-10 fires .308, and the 7mm-08 is the .308's kissing cousin...

Would anything really be required other than a custom BBL and chamber to make this a reality ? Mebbe some adjustable gas system tweaks ?

I'm woefully unaware of the intricacies of the AR platform, only the usual stuff......this knowledge would be out of my league.

I ask only because we're starting to assemble a lot of ammunition and components in 7mm-08 due to my wifes' hunting rifle, and was wondering if it might be put to another use at some point.

if the AR10 works in the same manner as the AR15. the concept of switching from 308 to 7mm-08 is about the same concept as the 5.56 to 300 blackout where the bolt carrier group magazine and buffer system are all the same and the only thing needed is a custom barrel. I believe that the 243 and 308 ar10s work on this same concept so really a 7mm-08 should work equally as well. your biggest hurdle is going to be to find a barrel chambered in 7mm-08
